Romsey Redbacks Banners - Celebrate Club History and Personal Milestones

With more than 150 years of football history behind them, the Romsey Redbacks know how to mark a moment. FootyBanners.com creates custom banners to honour individual milestones and team achievements, giving every Redbacks player a personalised keepsake crafted with their name, number, and milestone.

Simple to Order

Select a Single Player Banner, Two Player Banner, Team Banner, or Grand Final Banner - then provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone (for example, Tom Crawford, #11, 300 Games). All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, designed to hold up to a bitter Melbourne winter on the sidelines in Romsey.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Redbacks reach the same milestone in the same game, a Two Player Banner does justice to both - featuring both names and guernsey numbers in one premium banner that the club will cherish.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

A Team Banner showcases 3 to 6 players together and is ideal for premiership runs or group milestones. Set the tone with a top-line message like "150 Years Strong - Go Redbacks!" and let FootyBanners.com deliver the goods.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, Wall Keepsake Banners are made on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks - perfect for the clubrooms, games room, or garage as a lasting tribute to every proud Romsey Redback.

Grand Final Banners

Measuring 4.5m or 5.5m, Grand Final Banners can be fully customised with top and bottom text to capture the spirit of the big day. Contact FootyBanners.com for personalised design advice for the Romsey Football Netball Club's next grand final.

About Romsey Redbacks Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Romsey Football Netball Club, nicknamed the Redbacks, is one of Victoria's oldest and most storied community football clubs, having been established in 1874. The club celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024, marking a sesquicentennial of continuous football in the Macedon Ranges region. Originally known as the Robins, the club adopted the Redbacks identity to align with the black and red playing colours it has worn for generations. Romsey is located 61 kilometres north of Melbourne's CBD, and the football club has been a cornerstone of the town's identity since the Victorian era of Australian rules football.

Club History

The Romsey Redbacks have accumulated an extraordinary premiership record across multiple competitions. The club claimed flags in the Romsey Football Cup (1891) and early district associations in 1897, 1898 and 1902 before joining the Riddell District Football League, where they became the competition's most decorated club with 22 RDFL premierships including back-to-back titles in 1920-1921, 1925-1929, 1933 and 1935-1936, 1938-1939, 1948, 1950-1951, 1963, 1968, 1975, 2003, 2011, 2014 and 2015. The club moved to competing in the Riddell District Football League full-time from 2008 after a period competing in other competitions. The Redbacks have produced numerous players who have gone on to VFL/AFL level, and the club's senior women's and netball programs continue to develop alongside the men's competition.

Home Ground

The Romsey Redbacks play their home matches at Romsey Park, located in the centre of the town of Romsey. Romsey Park is one of the landmark sporting venues in the Macedon Ranges Shire, with a main oval, grandstand seating and club rooms that have hosted generations of Romsey football. The ground is shared between the senior football club, the netball club and the junior football netball program, making it the hub of sporting life in Romsey. The park is well positioned in the township and easily accessible from the main street and surrounding residential areas.

Community and Programs

Romsey Football Netball Club operates senior men's and women's football teams, a competitive netball program and a junior football netball club (Romsey JFNC). The junior program feeds directly into the senior ranks, providing a clear pathway from Auskick through to senior representative football in the Riddell District Football Netball League. The club acknowledges the Dja Dja Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the lands on which they play. The Redbacks are deeply embedded in the broader Romsey and Macedon Ranges community and actively support local events and initiatives.

Romsey

Romsey is a historic town in the Shire of Macedon Ranges, situated approximately 61 kilometres north of Melbourne's CBD. The town has a population of around 4,000 people and serves as one of the main service centres for the wider Macedon Ranges region. Romsey is known for its beautifully preserved Victorian-era streetscape, its proximity to vineyards and cellar doors along the Macedon Ranges Wine Region, and the annual Romsey Races thoroughbred horse racing carnival. The Calder Freeway provides a direct route to Melbourne, making Romsey increasingly popular with families seeking a regional lifestyle within commuting distance of the city.

The Redbacks compete in the Riddell District Football Netball League and call Romsey Park home. Visit the club website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news, fixtures and match day updates.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy
