Rye Sorrento Waves Football Banners - Riding High on the Mornington Peninsula

From a player's milestone game to a finals campaign by the bay, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners for the Rye Sorrento Waves that capture the spirit of football on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Whatever the occasion, we'll help your Waves celebrate it right.

Simple to Order

Order a Single Player Banner by providing the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Mia Connolly, #9, 50 Games. Our banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper built to handle the blustery Peninsula weather - whether it's a scorching summer's day or a cold winter blow off Port Phillip Bay.

Two Players, One Banner

Celebrating two Waves players at once? Our Two Player Banner lets you honour both on a single premium banner - just provide both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone they're reaching. Double the pride, one outstanding banner.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Bring the whole squad together with a Team Banner featuring 3 to 6 players. Set a message like "Rye Sorrento Waves - Together We Rise" and give your team something truly special to run through. The perfect way to close out any season on the Peninsula.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks - ideal for the clubrooms, the beach house, or the games room. A lasting reminder of life as a Rye Sorrento Wave.

Grand Final Banners

About Rye-Sorrento Waves Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Rye-Sorrento Waves Junior Football Club is a girls-only football program born from the proud histories of two established Mornington Peninsula clubs - the Rye Junior Football Club and the Sorrento Junior Football Club. The Waves were formed to create a dedicated pathway for girls aged 7 to 18 on the southern Mornington Peninsula, combining resources and community support from both parent clubs. The Rye Football Club (nicknamed the Demons) was founded in 1946, with Wilfred Rowley as its first president, playing on a ground famously cleared from tea-tree scrub and rabbit holes by pioneering members. The Sorrento Football Club traces its roots to the 1890s, with formal competition commencing in 1924.

Club History

The Rye-Sorrento Waves represents a new chapter in girls football on the Mornington Peninsula. The Waves program draws on the combined heritage of two MPNFL clubs: the Rye Demons, who have played in 20 senior grand finals and claimed 8 senior premierships (1951, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1965, 1972, 2001 and 2006) in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League, and the Sorrento Sharks, who have hoisted 14 senior premiership flags in over 112 years of formal MPNFL competition. The Waves offer girls teams in U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups, providing a clear development pathway from junior through to senior-age girls football.

Home Ground

The Rye-Sorrento Waves play their home games at R.J. Rowley Reserve on Melbourne Road, Rye - the traditional home of the Rye Football Club. The reserve is named in honour of the Rowley family who were instrumental in founding the Rye club in 1946. Sorrento Junior FC members may also use Shark Rock Oval in Sorrento for some activities. Both grounds are situated on the Mornington Peninsula between Port Phillip Bay and the ocean.

Community and Programs

The Waves cater exclusively to girls aged 7 to 18, offering a safe, fun and friendly environment for players at all experience levels. The program is committed to inclusivity and building confidence through sport, with experienced coaches and a strong sense of community pride. The club is actively growing its following, with over 320 Facebook followers and approximately 760 Instagram followers, reflecting strong community interest in girls football across the Rye and Sorrento areas. Both the Rye JFC and Sorrento JFC continue their own junior programs alongside the Waves.

Rye and Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula

Rye is a coastal town on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, located approximately 83 kilometres south of Melbourne's CBD. It recorded a population of 9,438 at the 2021 census and is known for its safe bay beaches, limestone heritage and status as a popular summer holiday destination. Adjacent Sorrento is one of the Peninsula's most prestigious coastal villages, known for its limestone buildings, dolphin-swim tourism and luxury accommodation. Both communities sit within the Mornington Peninsula Shire and are popular with holiday visitors and permanent residents alike throughout the year.

The Waves compete in Mornington Peninsula junior girls football and call R.J. Rowley Reserve, Rye home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
