About Singleton Roosters AFC

Origins and Founding

The Singleton Roosters Australian Football Club was formally established in 1982, although Australian rules football has been played in the Singleton district since the late nineteenth century. The club built an early identity through strong ties to the Lone Pine Army Base near Singleton, as well as deep roots in the surrounding industrial and farming communities. A senior men's premiership was secured as early as 1985, confirming the club's competitive standing in its formative decade. Between 1997 and 2005 the senior men's team was stood down while the club concentrated on rebuilding through its junior grades, which competed in the Newcastle Junior AFL.

Club History

In 2006, Singleton re-entered senior competition in the Black Diamond AFL with both Reserve and Under 18 sides, reaching the finals in their first year back. First Division premierships followed in 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2016. The senior Black Diamond Cup (first grade) returned in 2011, the first time a senior men's team had taken the field for the club since 1996. The women's program added a premiership in 2020, and the juniors have consistently produced titles across age groups, including multiple flags in 2016 and further triumphs in 2020, 2021, and 2022. The Roosters compete today in the AFL Hunter Central Coast competition, which consolidated the Hunter Region's clubs under a unified structure.

Home Ground

The Roosters are based at Rose Point Park on Ryan Avenue, Singleton, a facility the club has long called home. In 2023, the NSW Government committed $1.7 million toward an expansion of the club's facilities, and by 2025 a $2.2 million clubhouse extension was complete. The upgraded precinct includes new turf and irrigation on the playing field, a new cricket wicket, and modernised amenities with accessible toilets, cementing Rose Point Park as one of the better-appointed community football grounds in the Hunter region.

Community and Programs

The Roosters operate a broad junior program affiliated with the Greater Sydney Junior AFL, offering development pathways from Under 11 through Under 17 age groups. The women's section, which debuted its first senior premiership in 2020, has grown steadily alongside the men's program. The club welcomes players and volunteers from across the Singleton district, and the 2025 facility upgrade is expected to support both current membership numbers and future growth for the next generation of players and community supporters.

Singleton

Singleton is a regional city in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, situated approximately 144 kilometres north of Sydney at the junction of the Golden Highway and the New England Highway. As of the 2021 Census, the Singleton local government area recorded a population of approximately 24,575 residents, with the urban centre estimated at around 17,473 in 2026. The local economy is anchored by coal mining - which accounts for over 21 per cent of employment - as well as thoroughbred horse breeding, agriculture, and power generation. Singleton is recognised as an economic powerhouse within the Hunter Region.

The Roosters compete in the AFL Hunter Central Coast competition and call Rose Point Park, Singleton, home. Find out more at singletonroosters.com.au, follow the club on Facebook, or connect on Instagram at @singletonroostersafc.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
