Simple to Order
Order a Single Player Banner by providing the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Josh Fleming, #5, 150 Games. Our banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper built to handle whatever the Mornington Peninsula weather delivers - blustery southerlies and all. Durable, vivid, and made to last.
Two Players, One Banner
Celebrating two Sharks at once? Our Two Player Banner lets you honour both players on a single premium banner - just provide both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone. Double the occasion, one outstanding banner.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Bring the whole squad together with a Team Banner featuring 3 to 6 players. Set a top-line message like "Sorrento Sharks - Biting Back at the Peninsula" and give your team something to run through with real Sharks pride. The perfect finishing touch for any big season.

About Sorrento Sharks Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
The Sorrento Sharks Football Netball Club is one of Victoria's most historic regional clubs, with informal football recorded in Sorrento as far back as 1890. In 1902 the club was playing organised matches against clubs accessible by paddle steamer, including Dromana, Rye and Portsea. The club officially joined the Peninsula Football League in 1924, then merged into the Mornington Peninsula Football League in 1934 - the same competition that expanded in 1986 to become what is now the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (MPNFL), also known as the MPFNL. The Sharks have competed continuously in the competition for over 100 years.
Club History
The Sorrento Sharks have hoisted 14 senior premiership flags across more than 112 years of formal competition in the Peninsula football competition. A defining chapter came in 1997-98 when former Hawthorn great Don Scott agreed to coach the under-18s, which laid foundations for sustained senior success. In 2001 former Scott-coached players Brent Kenyon and Jai Spence became co-coaches and took the U18s to a flag, with senior premiership success following in 2004. The Sharks have had the extraordinary record of fielding at least 16 players in each of their last six premierships who came through the club's own junior ranks. The club's history was formally recorded in a document noting over 112 years of formal competition.
Home Ground
The Sorrento Sharks play their home games at Shark Rock Oval in Sorrento, set amid the natural beauty of the Mornington Peninsula. The ground is embedded in the Sorrento township and has been the home of Sharks football for many decades. The venue hosts senior men's, reserves and women's football as well as the club's netball program throughout the season.
Community and Programs
The Sorrento Sharks Football Netball Club fields senior men's, senior women's and junior football teams, as well as netball across multiple grades in the MPFNL. The club's junior program has been a crucial pipeline for senior talent, with at least 16 juniors featuring in each of the club's last six premiership teams. The Sharks maintain a strong community presence with over 3,700 Facebook followers and nearly 3,900 Instagram followers, reflecting their status as one of the Mornington Peninsula's most beloved sporting clubs. The club also operates the Rye-Sorrento Waves girls football program in partnership with Rye JFC.
Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula
Sorrento is one of Victoria's most iconic coastal villages, located on the Mornington Peninsula approximately 100 kilometres south of Melbourne's CBD. The township sits at the tip of the Peninsula between Port Phillip Bay and the Bass Strait, and is renowned for its limestone buildings, dolphin-swim tourism, luxury accommodation and vibrant cafe and restaurant scene. Sorrento connects to Queenscliff via the Peninsula to Queenscliff car ferry, the oldest ferry crossing in Australia. The town has a small permanent population but swells significantly during summer holidays, giving the Sharks a passionate and loyal supporter base year-round.
The Sharks compete in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League and call Shark Rock Oval, Sorrento home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
