Durable, vivid, and made to last long after the final whistle.

About Southern Suburbs Rugby Union Club
Origins and Founding
The Southern Suburbs Rugby Union Football Club, known as the Bulls, was established in 1946 in Adelaide, South Australia. One of the founding clubs of post-war rugby in Adelaide, the Bulls have grown from a small community club into one of the South Australian Rugby Union's most enduring institutions. The club is based at the AA Bailey Recreation Grounds in Clarence Gardens and fields Men's, Women's, and Junior teams across the SA Rugby Union (SARU) competition grades.
Club History
The Bulls have competed in the SA Rugby Union competition since the club's foundation in 1946 and have claimed multiple senior and women's premierships over the decades. In the Premier Grade, the Bulls captured a memorable title in 2003, defeating Brighton 15-13 in the final. A further Premier Grade premiership followed in 2007. The Women's section has also enjoyed premiership success, with the Southern Suburbs women's team claiming back-to-back titles in successive seasons. The club currently competes at the Premier Grade level alongside other historic Adelaide clubs including Port Adelaide, Brighton, and Old Collegians. The club's official website provides membership and fixture information for both senior and junior players.
Home Ground
The Bulls play their home games at AA Bailey Recreation Grounds (Bailey Reserve) on Goodwood Road, Clarence Gardens. The ground provides pitches for both senior and junior rugby union competitions and serves as the social heart of the Southern Suburbs rugby community.
Community and Programs
Southern Suburbs RUFC operates comprehensive junior development programs designed to introduce children to rugby union from grassroots level through to representative competitions. The club fields junior teams from under-8s through to under-18s, providing a pathway to senior club rugby. The Bulls are also active in promoting women's rugby, running a fully competitive women's competition side throughout the SARU season.
Clarence Gardens
Clarence Gardens is a suburb in Adelaide's inner south, located approximately 5 kilometres south of the Adelaide CBD in the City of Unley. Known for its tree-lined streets and proximity to the Mitcham Hills, the suburb has a population of around 3,500 residents. It borders Unley Park, Black Forest, and Springbank, and is well served by public transport along Goodwood Road.
The Bulls compete in SA Rugby Union and call AA Bailey Recreation Grounds, Clarence Gardens, home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

-
-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
