Taylors Lakes Lions Banners - Western Suburbs Football Milestones Celebrated
From a Lions player's 100th game at Lionheart Reserve to a grand final charge in Melbourne's west, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that capture what Taylors Lakes football is all about. Order yours and celebrate in true Lions style.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Josh Peterson, #7, 100 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper built to last through a bitter Melbourne winter at Lionheart Reserve.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Lions players reach the same milestone on the same day, our Two Player Banner celebrates them both in one great display. Just provide both names and guernsey numbers and we'll create a quality dual banner for the big occasion.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
For 3 to 6 players being honoured together, our Team Banner is the go-to option. Feature a top-line message like "Roar Lions Roar!" and list every player being recognised. A perfect choice for a milestone round or club presentation night at Taylors Lakes.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that won't fade over the years. Hang a Lions keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or games room as a lasting tribute to a memorable season.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text, our Grand Final Banners are built for the biggest days on the football calendar. Contact us for design advice and let FootyBanners.com help Taylors Lakes Football Club make their mark on grand final day.
About Taylors Lakes Lions
Origins and Founding
The Taylors Lakes Football Club, known as the Lions or "Lakers," was established in 1989 with a focus on junior football in Melbourne's north-western suburbs. The club affiliated with the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) at senior level in 1991 and has been competing continuously since 1993. What began as a junior development initiative has grown into a fully fledged community club fielding senior, reserves, and junior sides across multiple EDFL grades.
Club History
The Lions made their first grand final appearance in 2008 when the reserves team claimed the EDFL B Grade Reserves premiership. The 2010 season was a landmark year: the senior side defeated Pascoe Vale 16.14 (110) to 10.12 (72) in the EDFL Division 1 grand final, earning promotion to A Grade for 2011. The reserves team added further premierships in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Notable AFL alumni include Mark Blicavs, who played for the Geelong Cats, and Robert Stevenson, who represented the Essendon Bombers. The club has demonstrated consistent resilience, rebuilding multiple times to remain competitive in the EDFL's higher divisions.
Home Ground
The Lions play their home matches at Lionheart Reserve in Taylors Lakes, which also serves as the club's administrative headquarters. The ground hosts all of the club's senior, reserves, and junior teams throughout the season, as well as the women's program led by Senior Women's Coach Joe Antonetti in 2025.
Community and Programs
The Taylors Lakes Football Club prides itself on accessibility and inclusivity, providing opportunities for players from the surrounding growth corridors of Melbourne's north-west. The club runs junior programs to develop local talent into the senior ranks and has introduced a women's football arm as part of its broader community commitment. The Lions' identity is deeply tied to the newer suburban communities of Taylors Lakes, Keilor Downs, and Sydenham.
Taylors Lakes
Taylors Lakes is a suburban residential area in Melbourne's City of Brimbank, located 20 kilometres north-west of the CBD and just 6 kilometres from Melbourne Airport. Established in the 1970s as part of Melbourne's expanding outer western growth corridor, the suburb had a population of 16,910 at the 2021 census. Taylors Lakes is characterised by wide streets, large residential blocks, and family-oriented community facilities, with easy access to the Western Ring Road and the broader north-western suburbs.
The Lions compete in the Essendon District Football League and call Lionheart Reserve home. Visit the club website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match-day updates.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
