Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Kayla Morrison, #8, 50 Games. Walgett Ewes banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready for the heat of country NSW game day.

About Walgett Ewes Rugby Football

Origins and Founding

The Walgett Ewes are the women's rugby league side representing Walgett in far north-western New South Wales. They are affiliated with the Walgett Rugby League football club, which entered the Barwon Darling Rugby League (formerly Group 15 Rugby League) competition that began its modern reformed era in the 2000s after the original Group 15 competition last ran in 1992. The Ewes play in the women's League Tag format, providing a structured competition pathway for female players across the region.

Club History

The Walgett Rugby League club, with which the Ewes are connected, has a strong heritage in the Barwon Darling region. The men's side - the Walgett Dragons - made eight consecutive grand finals from 2012 to 2019, winning the premiership in 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2019. The women's Ewes side has followed in that competitive tradition. In 2024, the Ewes produced a dominant performance with Kiara Smith scoring four tries, Shauri Murphy three, and Jalissa Townsend two, reflecting the depth of women's talent in the club. The Barwon Darling competition, run under Country Rugby League as part of Region 4 (Western Rams), includes clubs from Bourke, Brewarrina, Goodooga, Lightning Ridge, and Walgett.

Home Ground

The Ewes play at Ricky Walford Oval in Walgett, the town's primary rugby league ground. The oval is named after Ricky Walford, a former St. George Dragons NRL player who grew up playing junior rugby league in Walgett. The ground has served as the hub of the town's rugby league community for decades and hosts the Barwon Darling competition rounds as well as annual knockout events including the Ricky Walford Shield, a primary school rugby league carnival held each August.

Community and Programs

Rugby league is deeply embedded in Walgett's community identity, with the sport providing a vital connection across the region's Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal residents. The Walgett Rugby League club administers the Ewes alongside its men's and junior programs. The Walgett community also runs the Neville Thorne Shield, a high school rugby league knockout carnival held annually in August. The club is managed through the Walgett Sports Club, which serves as the administrative hub for the town's rugby league activities.

Walgett

Walgett is a town in northern New South Wales, situated 691 km north-west of Sydney at the junction of the Barwon and Namoi Rivers. In 2021, Walgett had a population of 1,377. The area is of great cultural significance to the Gamilaroi and Yuwaaliyaay nations, whose people have lived along the Barwon and Namoi Rivers for thousands of years. The town's name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "the meeting place of two rivers." Walgett serves as a regional hub for the wool, wheat, and cotton industries, and is the gateway to the Lightning Ridge opal fields to the north.

The Ewes compete in the Barwon Darling Rugby League and call Ricky Walford Oval, Walgett home. Follow the club on Facebook.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
