Wangaratta Rovers Banners - Honour the Hawks in True Style

From a standout milestone game to a premiership celebration, FootyBanners.com is the best way to recognise the achievement of a Wangaratta Rovers player. Order a fully custom Hawks banner and let your club hero know just how much they mean to the Wangaratta faithful.

Simple to Order

A Single Player Banner is a brilliant way to celebrate a player hitting a major milestone. Simply provide the player's first name, surname, guernsey number, and the achievement - for example, Sam Murray, #12, 200 Games. Banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, ready to run through on a cold Victorian winter's morning at W. J. Findlay Oval. Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, and Grand Final banner styles.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Hawks are celebrating the same milestone in the same game, our Two Player Banner covers them both. Provide the names and guernsey numbers for both players and we'll produce a high-quality banner to match the occasion.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Got 3 to 6 players all notching up milestones in the same round? Our Team Banner is the perfect solution. Set a top-line message such as "HAWKS MILESTONE HEROES" and celebrate the group together. A great way to bring the whole Wangaratta Rovers community together around a shared moment of pride.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks designed to last for years. Whether it's the Hawks clubrooms, a garage wall, or a dedicated games room, these banners make a fitting tribute to a great career.

Grand Final Banners

Take the tunnel to the next level with our Grand Final Banners, available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes. Fully customised top and bottom text for the Wangaratta Rovers Hawks Football Club. Contact our team for personalised design advice before the big day.

About Wangaratta Rovers Hawks Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Wangaratta Rovers Football Club was founded in 1922 and initially competed in the Wangaratta District Football Association (WDFA) from 1922 to 1924, losing grand finals in both 1922 and 1923 to Milawa. The club then moved to the Ovens and King Football League (O&KFL) from 1925 to 1929. In 1930, the Rovers merged with the Wangaratta Football Club, fielding a combined team in both the Ovens and Murray Football League (O&MFL) and the O&KFL. The club re-formed independently in 1945, rejoined the O&KFL, won the 1948 O&KFL premiership, and then entered the Ovens and Murray Football League in 1950 - where they have remained ever since.

Club History

The Hawks have accumulated 17 O&MFL senior premierships: 1958, 1960, 1964, 1965, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1994, 2024 and 2025 - making them one of the most decorated clubs in the competition's history. The back-to-back premierships of 2024 and 2025 cemented the Hawks' standing as the competition's dominant force in the current era, with Sam Murray claiming the Bob Rose Medal (league best and fairest) in 2025 and Will Christie finishing as leading goalkicker with 49 goals. The club has produced an extraordinary pipeline of VFL/AFL-listed players, including Bob Rose (Collingwood captain/coach 1956-1962), Ben Reid (Collingwood, 2007), Sam Reid (Sydney Swans, 2010), Barry Hall (St. Kilda/Sydney/Footscray, joined 2012), Nick Murray (Adelaide Crows, 2021), Brayden George (North Melbourne, 2022), Darcy Wilson (St. Kilda, 2023), and Toby Murray (Adelaide Crows, 2024). Eddie Betts, the former Carlton and Adelaide Crows forward, also played at the club.

Home Ground

The Hawks have played at W. J. Findlay Oval in Wangaratta since 1953. The ground has a capacity of 10,000 and also serves as the club's training base. The Rural City of Wangaratta owns and maintains the facility, which hosts senior, reserves and Under 18 matches throughout the O&MFL season.

Community and Programs

The Wangaratta Rovers Football/Netball Club Incorporated - operating under the motto "The Family Club" - runs an extensive program across multiple disciplines. The club's netball section has won four O&MFL A-Grade premierships (1993, 1994, 2005, 2006) and continues to be a strong arm of the overall club. The Rovers' reserves team has claimed eight O&MFL premierships and the Under 18s have won twelve, reflecting deep player pathways from junior through to senior level. Women's football has been a growing focus for the club in recent years, with Instagram posts confirming an expanding female football program as of 2025.

Wangaratta

Wangaratta is a city in the northeast of Victoria, located 236 kilometres from Melbourne along the Hume Highway. At the 2021 census the city had a population of 29,808. It sits at the junction of the Ovens and King rivers, which drain the northwestern slopes of the Victorian Alps, and is the administrative centre of the Rural City of Wangaratta local government area. The city is a major regional hub serving the Ovens Valley and alpine communities, and is well known for its annual Jazz and Blues Festival. The Hawks compete in the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League and call W. J. Findlay Oval home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
