Wantirna South Devils Banners - The Mighty Devils of the East

Since 1952, the Wantirna South Devils have been a proud fixture of community football in Melbourne's outer east. FootyBanners.com creates custom banners for Devils players, families, and supporters to mark every special occasion.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Dylan Reid, #5, 100 Games. Banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper, built for a bitter Melbourne winter at Wantirna South.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Devils hit milestones in the same match, our Two Player Banner captures both achievements on one quality banner. Provide each player's name and guernsey number and we'll take care of the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

The Team Banner option accommodates 3 to 6 players, making it perfect for end-of-season nights and group recognitions. A top-line message like "Wantirna South Devils - Mighty and Proud" sets a great tone for any celebration. A brilliant way to honour the squad together.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. A lasting tribute for the Devils clubrooms or a supporter's wall - something to be proud of for years to come.

Grand Final Banners

Our Grand Final Banners are available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, fully customised with top and bottom text for the Wantirna South Devils. Contact us for design advice to make your grand final banner truly memorable.

About Wantirna South Devils

Origins and Founding

The Wantirna South Football Club was founded in 1952 as South Wantirna Football Club, established by a group of local residents who wanted to create an Australian rules football club for the Knox district community. The club initially competed in the Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League before moving to the Mountain District Football League in 1957. In 1965 the club joined the Eastern Districts Football League, competing across various divisions over the following decades. In 1997 the club merged with the Wantirna Junior Football Club - whose members were known as the Devils - and adopted the name Wantirna South Football Club, a name it has carried ever since.

Club History

The Devils claimed their first senior premiership in 1958, winning the Mountain District Football League B Grade title and defeating Silvan in the decider. The club's trajectory through the Eastern Football League was one of gradual ascent, interspersed with relegations and promotions across four divisions. The 1996 season marked a turning point when the club won both the senior and reserves Division 4 premierships - the celebrated "Devils Double" - defeating Waverley in the grand final by 25 points. Further premierships followed in 2002 (Division 3, defeating Doncaster East by three points in the club's Golden Jubilee year), 2004 (Division 2, defeating Montrose by two points), 2008 (Division 2, defeating Mulgrave by 98 points), and 2014 (Division 3, defeating Templestowe). In 2025 the Devils won their seventh senior premiership, claiming the Division 2 flag over Templestowe by just one point to earn promotion back into Division 1 for 2026. The club has produced five AFL-listed players: Rayden Tallis (Hawthorn Hawks), Kieran McGuinness (Western Bulldogs), Aaron Young (Port Adelaide Power and Gold Coast Suns), Ayden Kennedy (North Melbourne Kangaroos), and Mac Andrew (Gold Coast Suns).

Home Ground

The Devils play their home games at Walker Reserve on Tyner Road in Wantirna South. The ground carries a deep history within the community - it takes its name from Jim Walker and his daughter Lorraine, who died in a tragic drowning accident at Phillip Island in 1953. The local community came together to erect memorial gates at the Tyner Road entrance and a plaque in their honour. In the 2010-2011 period, Walker Reserve underwent a significant renovation that included a new modern grass surface, improved drainage, and an irrigation system.

Community and Programs

The Wantirna South Football Club fields four senior sides - senior men, senior women, and under-19s teams - providing football pathways for players of all ages in the Knox district. The club maintains a strong affiliation with the Wantirna South Junior Football Club, which was established in 1983 and serves as the primary feeder pathway for junior players progressing to senior football. The women's program competes in the Eastern Football Netball League, reflecting the club's commitment to growing the game for female players.

Wantirna South

Wantirna South is a suburb in Melbourne's outer eastern corridor, located approximately 26 kilometres south-east of the CBD within the City of Knox. The area is characterised by established residential streets, parklands, and local shopping precincts. Wantirna South borders the suburbs of Wantirna, Rowville, Scoresby, and Knoxfield, and is home to Knox City, one of Victoria's major regional shopping centres. The suburb sits within a broader community that takes considerable pride in its local sporting clubs.

The Devils compete in the Eastern Football Netball League and call Walker Reserve home. More information is available at wsfcdevils.com.au, and the club can be followed on Facebook and Instagram.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
