About Waroona Demons Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
Waroona Football Club was established in 1930 as a founding member of the Murray Districts Football Association in the Peel region of Western Australia. The club remained in that competition for several decades before the Murray Districts Football League disbanded at the end of the 1989 season. Waroona then joined the Metropolitan Football League in 1990 before becoming a founding member of the Peel Football and Netball League (PFNL) when it formed in 1992. The club fields both football and netball sides and is based in the town of Waroona, approximately 110 kilometres south of Perth.

Club History
The Waroona Demons have been one of the PFNL's most consistent clubs since the league's formation in 1992. The club's greatest era came in a dominant four-year run from 2009 to 2012, when the Demons claimed four consecutive PFNL league premierships under senior coaches Paul Pannell (2009-2011) and Craig Callaghan (2012). The club also reached the grand final in 2006, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017, cementing a reputation as a perennial finals contender. The Demons also won PFNL Reserves premierships in 2012, 2014, and 2016. Notable alumni include Matt Riggio, who was drafted to North Melbourne. Jasan Hysen has played 316 league games for the club, while Courtney Lakay holds the PFNL all-time league games record with 317 appearances for Waroona, a milestone celebrated by the league in 2025.

Home Ground
The Demons play their home games at Waroona Oval, situated in the centre of Waroona town. The ground serves as a focal point for the local community throughout the football season, hosting both senior and junior competition matches. The club has called Waroona Oval home throughout its time in the PFNL and it remains the heart of community sport in the Waroona district.

Community and Programs
Waroona Football Netball Club fields teams across multiple levels of football and netball, serving the local community from junior through to senior grades. The club's junior football and netball programs provide pathways for young players from the Waroona district, and the club plays an important social and community role in a small rural town. With strong membership and local sponsor support, the Demons are deeply woven into the fabric of Waroona life.

Waroona
Waroona is a small agricultural town in the Peel region of Western Australia, located approximately 110 kilometres south of Perth and 60 kilometres south of Mandurah. Situated within the Shire of Waroona local government area, the town has a population of around 2,000 people. The area is known for the nearby Lake Navarino, the historic Drakesbrook Weir, and its position at the foot of the Darling Scarp. Agriculture, particularly dairy and horticulture, has historically underpinned the local economy, and the football and netball club is a central part of community life in the region.
