Woden Blues Banners - Three Decades of Pride in the ACT

Since 1996, the Woden Blues have been one of Canberra's favourite community clubs. FootyBanners.com creates custom banners so the Blues faithful can celebrate every milestone in style - from 50 games to grand final appearances.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Tom Whitfield, #14, 100 Games. Banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper, perfect for a crisp Canberra afternoon at EPC Solar Park in Woden.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Blues hit milestones in the same match, our Two Player Banner honours both achievements on one standout banner. Just provide each player's name and guernsey number and we'll take care of the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

The Team Banner option features 3 to 6 players, making it perfect for end-of-season presentations and group recognition events. A top-line message like "Woden Blues - Pride of the Valley" captures the spirit beautifully. A brilliant way to celebrate the whole squad.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Whether displayed in the Blues clubrooms at EPC Solar Park or a supporter's home, it's a lasting keepsake from a memorable season.

Grand Final Banners

Our Grand Final Banners are available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, fully customised with top and bottom text for the Woden Blues. Contact us for design advice - we'll help you create something the club will remember for years to come.

About Woden Blues

Origins and Founding

The Woden Blues Football and Netball Club was founded in 1996 by a group of Marist College Old Boys in Canberra's south. Formed in the off-season, the club was initially trained by Stan Parrott, with Ian McAuley named as the first club captain and coach. The Blues based themselves at Mawson Oval and from the very first season were a competitive force in the Canberra District Football League (AFL Canberra), finishing as minor premiers in their debut year. The club celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026.

Club History

The Woden Blues competed in AFL Canberra's Division 2 competition through to 2004, winning three consecutive senior premierships in 2002, 2003, and 2004. The 2002 flag was the club's first, built on an undefeated home-and-away season and capped by a Grand Final victory with Wayne Harmer's 7-goal haul. The club was elevated to Division 1 in 2005 and continued to develop over the following decade. The Blues won back-to-back Division 3 premierships in 2015 and 2016, with Josh Campbell - who also appeared as an AFL Rookie - a standout performer in both campaigns. Other notable alumni include Jack Smith, who appeared in the Prime Minister's XI cricket team. The club formed its first ever Reserves side in 2015, adding a second grade competition to the club's structure. The Blues have made finals appearances across the majority of their history and remain one of Canberra's most active community clubs.

Home Ground

The Blues have called several grounds home over their history, beginning at Mawson Oval in 1996 before moving to Stirling Oval in 2000. From 2010, the club made the all-new Football Park in Phillip (now EPC Solar Park) their permanent base. The ground is a purpose-built multi-sport facility in the Woden Valley that caters for multiple clubs across football and netball. It has been the Blues' home for more than 15 years and is well-serviced by public transport and parking from the surrounding Woden Town Centre area.

Community and Programs

The Woden Blues run both a senior men's team and a Reserves side through AFL Canberra. The club has historically maintained strong connections with Marist College Canberra, drawing on alumni as players, coaches, and volunteers. The netball arm of the club adds a second sporting pathway for the local community, and the club has partnered with the Canberra Irish Club as a long-standing social and sponsorship partner. The Blues are committed to growing participation in Australian rules football in the Canberra south region.

Woden

Woden is a major district in Canberra's south, located approximately 10 kilometres from the ACT's city centre. The Woden Town Centre is one of Canberra's key commercial hubs, anchored by Westfield Woden and supported by a range of government offices and services. The district includes suburbs such as Phillip, Mawson, Garran, and Hughes, and has a strong local sports culture built around the Football Park precinct. As part of the Australian Capital Territory, Woden residents are approximately 300 kilometres from Sydney and 650 kilometres from Melbourne.

The Blues compete in AFL Canberra and call EPC Solar Park in Phillip home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
