Woden Blues Banners - Celebrating the Blues in Style
Whether it's a milestone game, a grand final run, or a career-defining moment, FootyBanners.com has you covered with a custom banner worthy of the Woden Blues. A personalised banner makes every celebration one the whole club will remember.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options - all fully customised to the player or group you're honouring. For player banners, simply provide the name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jake Williams, #7, 100 Games. Printed using permanent inks on heavy-duty coated paper, these banners hold up beautifully through a crisp Canberra afternoon or a bitter Canberra winter's day.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Blues reach the same milestone in the same game, the Two Player Banner captures both achievements at once. Supply both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll produce a quality two-player banner that does the moment proud.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Got three to six players reaching a milestone in the same round? The Team Banner option brings them all together on one banner. Use the top line to lead the charge - something like "WODEN BLUES - MILESTONE LEGENDS" - then close with a tagline that captures the Blues spirit perfectly.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Our Wall Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, each printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that keep the artwork vivid long after the final siren. Perfect for the clubrooms, a garage wall, or a games room - a lasting tribute to a Blues milestone the player will treasure for years.
Grand Final Banners
For the biggest game on the calendar, we offer Grand Final Banners in 4.5m and 5.5m widths, with fully customised top and bottom text tailored to the Woden Blues Football Club. Not sure where to start with the design? Our team is happy to help you get it right.
About Woden Blues Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Woden Blues Australian Rules Football and Netball Club was established in 1996 by a group of Marist College Old Boys, with the Evans family central to getting the club off the ground. The founding group played its first season in the Monaro League before entering the Canberra District 2nd Division. Under inaugural captain-coach Ian McAuley, the Blues surprised the competition by finishing as minor premiers in their debut season - an early sign of what the club would become. Canberra's first combined football and netball club, the Woden Blues took their name from the Woden Valley district in which they are based, a suburb cluster in the Australian Capital Territory named after a nearby 19th-century homestead.
Club History
The Blues quickly established themselves as a powerhouse in the lower divisions of AFL Canberra. After a series of finals campaigns through the late 1990s, the club claimed its first premiership in 2002, going undefeated through the home-and-away season in the Canberra District Division 2. Back-to-back premierships followed in 2003 (a 10-goal grand final victory over Gungahlin Jets) and 2004, giving the Blues three consecutive flags. Promotion to Division 1 in 2005 brought a new challenge, and the club competed steadily in the top tier before eventually settling in AFL Canberra Division 3 (Community Men's Division).
Two further premiership wins cemented the club's modern era. In 2015 the senior side won the AFL Canberra Division 3 grand final over ANU at Gungahlin Oval by 13 points, with Chris Karchinsky named best on ground. In 2016 the Blues repeated the feat, defeating ANU again at Manuka Oval by 21 points, with Josh Campbell outstanding in the forward line. That same year also marked the second successive grand final appearance for the Reserves side, which was first established in 2015. Notable club figures include Wayne Harmer, the league's leading goalkicker for six consecutive seasons, and Chris Karchinsky, who reached 150 games for the club and won multiple Best and Fairest awards. The club added a Women's team to its roster in 2018, completing a full senior football program for men and women.
Home Ground
The Blues played their earliest seasons at Mawson Oval before relocating to Stirling Oval in 2000. In July 2010, when the new Football Park in Phillip opened, the club moved there for several seasons. The Woden Blues now call EPC Solar Park in Woden home, a multi-sport facility in the heart of Woden Valley that serves as the hub for AFL Canberra competition. The ground is also used for training and junior development, with the Blues historically involved in Marist Juniors and Auskick programs since the club's earliest years.
Community and Programs
Community has always been at the centre of the Woden Blues. The club launched a Reserves team in 2015 and added a Women's team in 2018, growing from a single men's side to a multi-team club with strong ties to junior football and netball. The netball arm operates as a genuine partner to the football club, making the Blues one of the few clubs in the ACT to offer senior football and senior netball under one roof. Long-term volunteers and committee members - including many original 1996 members who remained involved for decades - have been the backbone of the club's growth and stability.
Woden Valley
Woden Valley is a district in the Australian Capital Territory located approximately 7 km south of Canberra's city centre. Gazetted in 1966, it comprises twelve suburbs arranged around the Woden Town Centre, including Phillip, Mawson, Curtin, Hughes, Garran, and Isaacs. At the 2021 census, the district's population was 39,279. The area is home to several major government agencies, Westfield Woden shopping centre, and the Canberra Hospital, and is known for its planned suburban layout and strong community infrastructure typical of Canberra's satellite city design.
The Blues compete in AFL Canberra and call EPC Solar Park, Woden their home. Visit the Woden Blues official website for news, fixtures, and membership details, follow them on Facebook for match updates and club news, and follow them on Instagram for game-day photos and club updates.

Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
