About Bribie Island Bulldogs Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Bribie Island Bulldogs Australian Football Club is a community club serving the residents of Bribie Island in Queensland's Moreton Bay region. Founded to provide Australian rules football in a traditionally rugby league-dominated part of Queensland, the Bulldogs have grown steadily to become a central part of sporting life on the island. The club has developed strong junior programs and has seen particularly significant growth in female participation, with women and girls now making up nearly 70 per cent of the club's total membership.

Club History

The Bulldogs compete in the Wide Bay Football League and have been building their junior and senior programs over recent years. In 2025 the club won the Under-13 Girls Division 2 Brisbane Grand Final, reflecting the strength of its girls' development pathway. The club has attracted substantial infrastructure investment from government, including a $1.8 million facility upgrade in 2025 to provide modern, unisex facilities to support the surge in female participation, and a $100,000 Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant for new LED field lighting to allow training and games in the evenings.

Home Ground

The Bulldogs play their home games on Bribie Island, which has seen ongoing improvements to its sporting facilities as the island's population has grown. The new LED field lighting funded in recent years has transformed the club's ability to train and play after dark, extending access to football for players of all ages. The facility upgrades completed in 2025 include a main pavilion designed to accommodate the club's growing participation numbers.

Community and Programs

The Bribie Island Bulldogs offer AFL Auskick for the youngest players and run junior, youth, and senior teams for both boys/men and girls/women. The growth in female football has been the club's most notable development in recent years, and the 2025 facility upgrade was specifically designed to provide gender-appropriate change rooms and facilities to support this expansion. The club works closely with local schools and the Moreton Bay Regional Council to grow participation in Australian rules football on the island.

Bribie Island

Bribie Island is a coastal island in Moreton Bay, Queensland, connected to the mainland at Ningi by a bridge and located approximately 65 kilometres north of Brisbane's CBD. The island had a population of approximately 20,594 at the 2021 census, with estimates exceeding 22,000 by 2026. Known for its relaxed coastal lifestyle, the island is popular with retirees and families who value the quiet beach community atmosphere. The Moreton Bay region falls within the City of Moreton Bay local government area.

The Bulldogs compete in the Wide Bay Football League and call Bribie Island home. Follow them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
