There is something special about footy by Moreton Bay, and when the Sandgate Hawks run out on a warm Queensland afternoon, a custom-designed FootyBanners.com run-through banner gets the whole ground fired up. A great banner captures the spirit of a club that plays with real conviction and gives every player that extra surge as they hit the field.

Simple to Order

Ordering a Sandgate Hawks banner is easy. Upload a player photo, add the message you want, and our design team creates the artwork. A proof comes back to you for approval before we print, so the final banner is exactly what you had in mind for game day.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Hawks together on one banner is a striking image. Whether it is co-captains, a standout combination, or two players who have carried the team through a big season, the two-player banner creates something both players and the whole club will treasure.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Bring the full squad together on a team banner for end-of-season presentations or club milestone events. Every Sandgate Hawks player gets their moment in a group photo that captures what the whole team achieved together across a long season.

Wall Keepsake Banners

A wall keepsake banner is a permanent tribute to a great season or a memorable occasion in the Sandgate Hawks' history. Display it in the clubrooms, gift it to a long-serving volunteer, or hang it at home as a lasting piece of Hawks history worth keeping.

Grand Final Banners

When the Sandgate Hawks make the grand final, the occasion calls for a banner built for the moment. Our grand final banners are designed for the biggest game of the season and ensure every player runs out knowing exactly what they are playing for.

About Sandgate Hawks Sporting Club

Origins and Founding

The Sandgate Football Club was first proposed in March 1933, with at least four local schools taking up the game that year. The club joined the QANFL in 1933 but played for only one season before going dormant. The current club was formally re-established in 1943 and entered senior competition in 1944, competing without interruption until 1991. The club's longevity makes it one of the oldest continuously operating Australian rules football clubs in Queensland, with roots stretching back more than 80 years to the bayside communities north of Brisbane.

Club History

The Sandgate Hawks have won six QAFL premierships - in 1956, 1957, 1970, 1971, 1974, and 1979 - with the 1970s representing the club's golden era, when they contested the finals in every season of the decade. In 1991, Sandgate merged with Windsor-Zillmere to form the Northern Eagles, but following administrative disagreements the clubs separated. Sandgate returned to play in the Brisbane Australian Football League (BAFL), winning back-to-back premierships in 1993 and 1994 before eventually rejoining the QAFL structure. The revamped club now competes in the Pineapple Hotel Cup division of the Queensland State Football League. Brisbane Lions ruckman Jamie Charman is among the notable alumni to have come through the Sandgate system. In 2024, the club won the QFA Division 2 North premiership, continuing its tradition of on-field success.

Home Ground

The Sandgate Hawks are based in Taigum, a suburb in Brisbane's northern corridor, and play home games at their home base on Taigum's suburban grounds. The club has maintained a presence in the Sandgate and northern Brisbane area since its inception, reflecting the strong community football culture that has long characterised Brisbane's bayside region. The club's facilities are home to senior men's and women's teams, junior competitions, and the popular Auskick development program.

Community and Programs

Sandgate runs a comprehensive suite of community programs covering all ages and abilities. The club fields senior men's and women's teams, a thriving junior competition, and an Auskick entry pathway for young children. The women's program has grown steadily in recent years, contributing to the club's identity as an inclusive, family-friendly football club. The Hawks also run a masters program for older players, ensuring football remains accessible to the Sandgate community throughout every stage of life.

Taigum

Taigum is a suburban area in Brisbane's northern suburbs, located approximately 14 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD within the Moreton Bay region. It forms part of the broader northern corridor that includes Sandgate, Bracken Ridge, and Boondall. The area is characterised by families and newer residential development, with good access to public transport and Westfield Chermside nearby. The Sandgate-to-Taigum corridor has long been a football heartland, producing players who have gone on to represent Queensland at state level.

The Hawks compete in the QAFL and call Taigum home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

  • Footy Banner Information

All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using solvent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.

We recommend taping broomsticks to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  if you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
