About Clarence Town Cobras Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Clarence Town Cobras are a community rugby league football club based in the historic town of Clarence Town in the Dungog Shire of New South Wales. The Cobras represent the town and surrounding district in the Newcastle Hunter Rugby League (NHRL) competition, playing in the Northern Conference. The club has established itself as a source of community pride in one of the Hunter region's most historic rural towns, with the motto "playing for the love of the game and the town."

Club History

The Cobras have a long association with rugby league in the Williams River district. The club claimed the Northern Conference D Grade premiership in 2015, ending a 34-year drought since their previous flag, reflecting a period of sustained rebuilding. A decade later, the club claimed the Northern Conference D Grade Major Premiership in 2025, defeating Mallabula 30-22 in a high-scoring grand final. The club also runs junior programs, including little Cobras who have played at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Cobras compete in the NHRL Northern Conference alongside clubs from across the Hunter Valley and Lower Hunter regions.

Home Ground

The Cobras play their home games in Clarence Town, using the local oval as their home ground. Clarence Town's oval is a community facility that hosts both the Cobras and other local sporting competitions throughout the year, reflecting the town's strong grassroots sporting culture.

Community and Programs

The Cobras field both men's and junior teams in the NHRL competition. The club is closely connected to the broader Clarence Town community and draws players from the township and surrounding rural properties across the Dungog Shire. Occasional community events and come-and-try days have helped grow the club's junior base and introduce new players to the sport.

Clarence Town

Clarence Town is a rural township in the Dungog Shire local government area, located in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, 193 kilometres north of Sydney and 54 kilometres north-north-west of Newcastle. The township sits beside the Williams River and has a population of approximately 2,100 in the surrounding locality. Clarence Town is notable historically as the site where the paddle steamer William IV was built and launched in 1831, and the area was originally inhabited by the Wanaruah Aboriginal people, who knew it as Erringhi.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
