About Terrigal-Avoca Panthers Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Terrigal-Avoca Australian Football Club was founded in 1976 as one of the inaugural members of the Central Coast Australian Football League (CCAFL). The club drew its founding squad partly from eight players who had recently departed the Newcastle Australian Football League in 1975, combining with local Gosford and Terrigal footballers to form a team capable of competing from day one. In the very first CCAFL grand final held in 1976, the Panthers defeated Gosford to claim the inaugural premiership, a result that set the tone for the club's place as the dominant force on the New South Wales Central Coast.
Club History
After winning the 1976 flag, the Panthers experienced a 12-year drought before launching a dominant era that produced four consecutive premierships from 1988 to 1991. The club continued to add to its trophy cabinet with further CCAFL titles in 1994, 1996, and 1999. When the Central Coast and Newcastle leagues merged at the turn of the millennium to form the Black Diamond Australian Football League (BDAFL), Terrigal-Avoca won the inaugural BDAFL premiership in 2000, defeating Cardiff 17.16.118 to 10.18.78. Following another drought, the Panthers reasserted themselves with back-to-back premierships in 2014 and 2015, the 2017 flag, and titles in 2019 and 2020. In 2025, the club added its 16th senior premiership, cementing its status as the most successful club on the Central Coast. The competition now operates under the banner of AFL Hunter Central Coast.
Home Ground
The Panthers call Hylton Moore Oval in East Gosford their home base, training and playing senior fixtures on this purpose-built ground situated on the NSW Central Coast. Previously, the club played at Heazlett Park in Avoca Beach before making the transition to East Gosford. Hylton Moore Oval serves as both the training ground and primary match venue, and is central to the club's administration and community activities throughout the season.
Community and Programs
Terrigal-Avoca fields senior men's teams in the Black Diamond Cup (1st Grade) and Black Diamond Plate (Reserves), as well as a women's side that debuted in 2018. The club has also built a comprehensive junior program covering Auskick, Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 15s, Under 17s, and youth girls divisions at Under 12, Under 14, and Under 17 levels. This pathway structure ensures the club nurtures talent from early childhood right through to senior football, maintaining a steady supply of players who have grown up within the Panthers system.
East Gosford
East Gosford is a suburb on the Central Coast of New South Wales, situated approximately 75 kilometres north of Sydney and forming part of the broader Gosford urban area. The Central Coast is one of Australia's fastest-growing regions, with a population exceeding 340,000 residents spread across coastal and hinterland communities. The area has a strong Australian rules football tradition dating back to the formation of the CCAFL in 1976, with the Panthers having played a central role in promoting and growing the game throughout the region for five decades.
For more information visit the Terrigal-Avoca Panthers official website, follow them on Facebook, or find their junior program on Instagram.
Footy Banner Information
Material: All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
