About Ramsgate Rams Junior AFC
Origins and Founding
The Ramsgate RSL Rams Junior Australian Football Club (JAFC) was established in 1956, making it one of Sydney's longest-running junior football organisations. The club was originally known as "St Pats" before being renamed the Ramsgate Rams in 1976. The club has maintained a long-standing partnership with the Ramsgate RSL Memorial Club, which has provided sponsorship support for many years. The Rams are based at 24 Tonbridge Street, Ramsgate NSW 2217, in Sydney's St George area on the shores of Botany Bay.
Club History
The Ramsgate Rams have spent nearly seven decades building junior football in the St George region of Sydney. Since rebranding from St Pats to the Rams in 1976, the club has continued to grow its program. In 2022 the Rams fielded teams across Auskick (3-8 years), U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14 and U15 age groups, with dedicated girls teams in U10, U12 and U14 - a reflection of the club's commitment to inclusivity and gender-equal football participation. The club operates within the Sydney-based junior AFL competition structure coordinated by AFL NSW/ACT. Coaches at the Rams hold at least an AFL Level 1 Coaching Accreditation, with many having played AFL themselves.
Home Ground
The Ramsgate Rams play their home games at Tonbridge Street Reserve, Ramsgate, accessible via the club's headquarters at 24 Tonbridge Street, Ramsgate NSW 2217. The reserve is situated within the residential suburb of Ramsgate, close to the Botany Bay foreshore. The ground provides a welcoming environment for AusKick, junior matches and club training sessions throughout the AFL NSW/ACT season.
Community and Programs
The Ramsgate Rams offer football pathways for children from ages 4 to 17, including an AusKick program for ages 4 to 6, a Superkick program for ages 7 to 8, and junior football teams from U9 through to U15. Girls are actively catered for with dedicated girls teams across multiple age groups. The club is deeply connected to the Ramsgate RSL Memorial Club, and the partnership supports the club's community activities, functions and social events. The Rams pride themselves on being a family club focused on participation, development, fun and friendships.

-
-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
