About Pittwater Tigers Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Pittwater Tigers Junior AFL Club was founded in April 1970 as the Pittwater Australian Rules Football Club, making it one of the oldest junior Australian rules football clubs on Sydney's Northern Beaches. For more than 55 years, the Tigers have been introducing the game to children in the Narrabeen and Pittwater area, developing a community around AFL football in a region better known for surf and rugby league. The club operates under the AFL Sydney Juniors banner and provides pathways for children aged five to 17.

Club History

Since their founding in 1970, the Pittwater Tigers have grown steadily to become a well-regarded fixture of Northern Beaches community sport. The club fields teams across multiple age groups under the AFL Sydney Juniors competition structure and has consistently focused on skills development, inclusion, and enjoyment of the game alongside competitive performance. In recent years the club secured a $50,000 grant for an Auskick facility upgrade at North Narrabeen, reflecting ongoing investment in the club's junior programs. The Tigers operate under the broader AFL Sydney framework, which oversees community football across New South Wales and the ACT.

Home Ground

The Pittwater Tigers play their home games at North Narrabeen Reserve, with the clubhouse and training facilities located on Walsh Street, Narrabeen. The ground is set within the Northern Beaches Council area, close to the famous Narrabeen Lagoon and beach precinct. It provides a well-appointed community sporting environment for junior teams and families, with the stunning Northern Beaches backdrop making it one of the more scenic junior football settings in New South Wales.

Community and Programs

The Pittwater Tigers are committed to inclusive, youth-focused football, welcoming players of all skill levels from age five onwards. The club runs Auskick programs for the youngest participants, with age-group teams progressing through to under-17 level. The Tigers emphasise learning AFL skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork, making the club as much about personal development as it is about on-field performance. With a loyal membership drawn from the surrounding Northern Beaches suburbs, the Tigers are a genuinely community-focused club.

Narrabeen and the Northern Beaches

Narrabeen is a beachside suburb on Sydney's Northern Beaches, located approximately 25 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD within the Northern Beaches Council local government area. Known for Narrabeen Beach and the famous Narrabeen Lagoon - one of Sydney's largest coastal lagoons - the area attracts families who value the outdoor lifestyle. The Northern Beaches corridor stretches from Manly to Palm Beach, and AFL football has continued to grow in popularity throughout the region, with the Pittwater Tigers at the forefront of that growth in the Narrabeen and Pittwater area.

The Tigers compete in AFL Sydney Juniors and call North Narrabeen Reserve home. Follow the Pittwater Tigers on Facebook for news, training schedules, and registration information throughout the season.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
