FootyBanners.com crafts custom football banners built for the clubs and communities that make Australian rules footy so special. From junior milestones to senior landmark games, our banners for the Doveton Doves are made to make the occasion truly memorable for players, families, and supporters alike.

Simple to Order

Our Single Player Banner is the go-to choice when it's time to celebrate a player's milestone. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Michael Costa, #3, 150 Games - and we handle everything from there. Printed with permanent weatherproof inks on heavy-duty paper, your Doves banner will hold up through even the most blustery Melbourne winter day at Paperbark Street.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Doves players reaching the same milestone on the same day? Our Two Player Banner is the perfect solution - one great banner, two well-deserved celebrations. Just supply each player's name and guernsey number and we'll take care of the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

The Team Banner option caters for 3 to 6 players in a single design, making it perfect for end-of-season nights or when a whole age group is hitting milestones together. A top-line message like "Go Doves!" gives the banner its finishing touch and gets the crowd going.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners are available in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that stand the test of time. Whether it goes up in the clubrooms, the garage, or the games room, a keepsake banner is a lasting reminder of a proud Doves moment.

About Doveton Doves Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Doveton Football Club was founded in 1959 in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Doveton, Victoria. The club entered senior competition in the South West Gippsland Football League (SWGFL) and took a decade to win its first premiership, claiming the flag in 1969. In pursuit of stronger competition, Doveton transferred to the Federal Football League for five years from 1972, winning 22 games from 86 played before returning to the SWGFL in 1977. The club has consistently played under the nickname "the Doves."

Club History

After returning to the SWGFL in 1977, the Doves enjoyed their most successful era, winning four premierships in six years - 1983, 1984, 1985, and 1988. When the SWGFL was absorbed by the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (MPNFL) in 1995, Doveton regularly made the finals without claiming a flag. The club joined the Casey Cardinia Football League from 2005 and won the premiership in 2005. In 2015, Doveton was one of nine founding clubs of the South East Football Netball League, and in 2019 won the Outer East Football Netball League Division One Grand Final, defeating Pakenham. The club moved to the Southern Football Netball League in 2022, currently competing in Division 2. Notable VFL/AFL players to come out of the Doveton Doves include Josh Battle (St Kilda), Connor MacDonald (Hawthorn), Ron Beattie (Hawthorn), Scott Simister (Melbourne), John Walker (Collingwood), Daniel Wulf (St Kilda), and Don Henwood (Footscray).

Home Ground

The Doves play their home games at Robinson Oval, located on the corner of Oak Avenue and Paperbark Street in Doveton. The ground has served as the club's base for many decades and is situated within easy reach of the suburb's residential centre. Doveton is also home to a second football club, the Doveton Eagles, who compete in Division 4 of the Southern FNL - notably, both clubs were premiers in 2019 in their respective competitions.

Community and Programs

The Doveton Football Club operates as a football and netball club, providing programs for players from junior through to senior level. The club plays a significant role in what is one of Melbourne's more multicultural outer-suburban communities. Doveton has historically been home to large populations of migrants from war-affected countries, drawn to the area by the post-war public housing estate established by the State Housing Commission in the mid-1950s, alongside industrial employment opportunities centred on nearby Dandenong. The club's connection to this diverse community gives it a distinctive character within the Southern FNL competition.

Doveton

Doveton is a suburb of Melbourne located 31 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD, within the City of Casey local government area. The suburb had a population of 9,603 at the 2021 Census. The area is named after Captain Francis Crossman Doveton, an early settler and Gold Commissioner who was prominent in the region until around 1903. Doveton Post Office opened on 1 December 1956 as the suburb grew rapidly through the late 1950s and 1960s. Today the suburb is known for Myuna Farm, an interactive animal farm in the suburb's east, and the annual Doveton Show, a volunteer-run community event held in conjunction with the Melbourne Show. Doveton is bounded by Dandenong Creek to the west, the Monash Freeway to the north, Eumemmerring Creek to the east, and Princes Highway to the south.

The Doves compete in the Southern Football Netball League and call Robinson Oval home. Visit the club website for more information and follow them on Facebook for news and match day updates.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
