East Sunbury Football Club Banners - Celebrating the Thunder

Whether it's a milestone game, a grand final run, or a season to remember, FootyBanners.com is proud to help the East Sunbury community mark the moments that matter. Order a fully custom banner for the Thunder and give your player or club an unforgettable tribute.

Simple to Order

Our Single Player banners are perfect for individual game milestones. Just provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jake Morris, #7, 100 Games - and we'll do the rest. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner will hold up beautifully through even the coldest Melbourne winter day on the sideline at John McMahon Reserve.

Two Players, One Banner

Sharing a milestone with a teammate makes it even more special. Our Two Player banners let you celebrate two Thunder players at once, provided both are marking the same game milestone. Simply supply both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone achieved for a quality banner that honours them both.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Bringing the whole squad together? Our Team Banner option covers 3 to 6 players in one great design. Use it to celebrate a shared milestone with a top-line message like "Thunder - 50 Games Club" and finish with a bold closing statement that captures the team's spirit and pride.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks - built to last as a lasting display piece. Hang them in the clubrooms, the garage, or the games room so the Thunder's best moments are always on show.

Grand Final Banners

Make the biggest day in the East Sunbury Football Club's season one they'll never forget. We offer Grand Final banners in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, fully customised with your chosen top and bottom text. Contact us for design advice and we'll help you put together something worthy of the occasion.

About East Sunbury Football Club

Origins and Founding

East Sunbury Football Club was established in 1999 as part of the broader East Sunbury Sporting Group, a not-for-profit incorporated association formed to promote sport in the Sunbury community. The club entered senior football through the Riddell District Football and Netball League (RDFNL), competing in that competition from the club's earliest years. The sporting group operates football, netball, and cricket programs under the same banner, with all three arms working from the same base at John McMahon Reserve.

Club History

East Sunbury joined the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) in 2013, bringing competitive football to a club that had built its foundations in the RDFNL. The club withdrew from the EDFL at the end of 2021 before returning in 2023, continuing to develop its senior and junior programs across men's and women's competitions. The EDFL is a large metropolitan competition spanning from Sunbury in the north to Moonee Ponds in the south-east and Hillside in the west, as recorded on the league's Wikipedia page. East Sunbury's most prominent connection to elite football is former Carlton AFL star Brendan Fevola, who has played for and been associated with the club, making the Thunder one of the most recognisable grassroots clubs in the Hume region. The club's women's program launched in 2024 when East Sunbury entered an inaugural women's side in EDFL Division Two, coached by Lisa Borg, as reported by EDFL Media.

Home Ground

The Thunder play their home matches at John McMahon Reserve, located at 155 Lancefield Road, Sunbury. The ground serves as the base for the club's senior and junior football programs and hosts match days throughout the EDFL season. As one of the northernmost clubs in the EDFL, East Sunbury's ground sits well beyond the suburban fringe, giving the club a distinctive identity as a community-first club in a growing outer-metropolitan area.

Community and Programs

East Sunbury Sporting Group fields teams across junior and senior football, with both men's and women's competitions represented. A thriving Auskick program introduces the game to young children in the Sunbury area, providing a pathway into junior and senior football. The club's netball and cricket arms operate alongside football under the one sporting group structure, with dedicated sub-committees for each sport. Volunteer coaches, team managers, and committee members drive the day-to-day operation of the club, supported by sponsorship from local Sunbury businesses. Throughout the year, the club runs community events including trivia nights and family days to strengthen ties between players, families, and supporters.

Sunbury

Sunbury is a satellite city located approximately 38 kilometres north-west of the Melbourne CBD, within the City of Hume local government area. The 2021 Census recorded a population of 38,851, reflecting significant growth over the past two decades as families have been drawn to its combination of open space, heritage streetscapes, and proximity to Melbourne via the Sunbury rail line. The area is known for its volcanic plains landscape, the Jacksons Creek gorge, and its annual music festival history. Sunbury's expanding residential population has created strong demand for community sports clubs, and East Sunbury FC is one of the key sporting anchors in the eastern parts of the town.

The Thunder compete in the Essendon District Football League and call John McMahon Reserve in Sunbury home. Visit the club website for news, registrations, and more, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for the latest club updates and match-day content.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
