Gembrook Cockatoo Banners - Celebrate the Brookers with Pride

When a Gembrook Cockatoo player earns a milestone, FootyBanners.com is the place to get a custom banner worthy of the occasion. We create fully personalised Brookers banners for everything from 50-game milestones to grand final run-outs, made with the care and quality that a club with over a century of history deserves.

Simple to Order

Ordering your Brookers banner couldn't be easier. Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Ash Cockatoo, #11, 100 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty paper and are completely weatherproof, ready to hold their own on a cold and crisp morning in the Dandenong Ranges.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Brookers hit the same milestone on the same day, our Two Player Banner celebrates them together. Just supply both players' names and guernsey numbers, and we'll put together one great banner that does justice to both milestone achievements.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For group milestones, the Team Banner option fits 3 to 6 players perfectly. Lead with a punchy top-line like "BROOKERS - ONE CLUB, ONE VISION" to get the whole club fired up, and close with a tagline that ties the whole design together for a memorable Gembrook Cockatoo presentation.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners are available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, crafted on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that last. Hang your Brookers banner in the clubrooms, a games room, or a garage, and keep the memories of great Gembrook Cockatoo seasons alive for years to come.

Grand Final Banners

When the Brookers are set for finals, make sure they run out through something unforgettable. Our Grand Final Banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m widths with fully customised top and bottom text. About Gembrook Cockatoo Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Gembrook Football Club was officially formed in 1906, participating in the Evelyn Football Association, making it one of the oldest clubs in Victoria's outer south-east. Football was suspended during World War One, with the club reforming in 1919. That same year the Mountain District Football Association (MDFA) was formed, with Gembrook FC as one of its founding clubs. When the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League (YVMDFL) - now the Outer East Football Netball League (OEFNL) - was established in 1966, Gembrook FC was again among the founding members. The club's junior division was founded in 1972 as part of the senior club. In 1996, the juniors moved to Mountain Road Reserve at Cockatoo and adopted the combined name Gembrook-Cockatoo. The senior club followed suit in 1997, becoming Gembrook Cockatoo Football Club. Full club history is documented on the club's official history page.

Club History

Gembrook Cockatoo has built an impressive premiership record over its long history. Senior premierships have been claimed in 1965 (defeating UFTG in the grand final), 1986 (a dominant 21.23.149 defeat of Worri-Yallock), and 2000, when the club achieved a remarkable seniors and reserves double against Yarra Junction and Yarra Glen respectively. The 2004 premiership was won at Woori Yallock over South Belgrave before a crowd of 1,100. The 2016 senior premiership was contested at Yarra Glen before a crowd of 2,100 on 17 September 2016. The club's most recent double came in 2022, when the Seniors defeated Seville 14.11 (95) to 10.12 (72) and the Reserves defeated Berwick Springs 9.9 (63) to 9.2 (56) in the same season. The Brookers currently compete in the Premier Division - the top tier - of the Outer East Football Netball League.

Home Ground

The Brookers play at Gembrook Recreation Reserve in Gembrook, with Cardinia Shire Council providing the ground tenancy. The football club shares the reserve with Gembrook Cricket Club on an alternating seasonal basis, with an upgraded Football and Cricket Pavilion featuring an elevator to provide access for all patrons. The ground is also home to the club's netball program, which competes in the Yarra Valley Mountain District Netball League. The reserve has been a hub for the Gembrook community for more than a century, with the first Gembrook teams having played on a paddock at "Silver Wells" before the establishment of the current reserve.

Community and Programs

Gembrook-Cockatoo Football Netball Club runs football and netball programs across senior and junior levels under the motto "One Club, One Vision." The club fields senior and junior football and netball teams, making it a comprehensive community club. The junior football club operates during the season and has a strong connection to the local schools and families of Gembrook, Cockatoo, and the surrounding Cardinia Shire communities. The club's child safety, anti-bullying, and inclusion policies reflect a strong commitment to being a welcoming environment for all participants regardless of age or background.

Gembrook and the Dandenong Ranges

Gembrook is a town in the Shire of Cardinia, 65 kilometres south-east of Melbourne's CBD and on the edge of the Dandenong Ranges. At the 2021 census, Gembrook had a population of 2,559, according to the Gembrook Wikipedia page. The area was settled in 1873 for farming and timber, with the name "Gembrook" derived from small gems found in local creeks during the Victorian gold rush era. Today the town is best known as the terminus of the Puffing Billy heritage railway (fully restored to Gembrook in 1998), as a winemaking region, and as a popular day-trip destination. Gembrook is also home to Gillwell Park Scout Camp, one of the largest scout camps in the southern hemisphere. Neighbouring township Cockatoo, which gives the combined club its name, sits just a few kilometres away.

The Brookers compete in the Outer East Football Netball League and call Gembrook Recreation Reserve home. Visit the club's website at gembrookcockatoofnc.com.au for news and fixtures. Follow them on Facebook for the latest Brookers updates and match day coverage.

  • Footy Banner Information

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
