All banners are produced with permanent inks on heavy-duty coated paper, fully weatherproof and ready for anything a brisk Melbourne afternoon can throw at them.

About North Brunswick Giants
Origins and Founding
Australian rules football has deep roots in Brunswick. Competitive football was played in the suburb as far back as 1865, when a team called the United Brickyards and Potteries took the field, and a formal North Brunswick Football Club was active in the 1880s with 60 members recorded at its fourth annual meeting in 1885. The modern junior club - the North Brunswick Giants JFC - was formally established in 2005, though its direct predecessor, the North Brunswick Football Club, was founded in 1966 by two teachers at the North Brunswick Primary School, Ray Trotter and Ian Duncan, who saw that local students had no club to play with. That original club joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) in 1970 and won its first premiership in 1974, defeating Old Mentonians, with Ray Trotter coaching. A second VAFA premiership followed in 1981, defeating University Reds. As the founding generation moved on, the current junior-focused structure emerged and in 2005 the North Brunswick Giants JFC was established as the formal successor at Allard Park.
Club History
The Giants have claimed five Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) premierships since the junior club's formation. In 2021 - a season disrupted by COVID-19 but completed for premiership points - the YJFL awarded the flag to the team atop the ladder, making the Giants Under-15 Girls team the Section 2 premiers. It was the club's fifth YJFL premiership and its first by a girls team, a landmark moment for the program. The Giants also reached multiple grand finals across various age groups during the late 2010s. In late 2019, the club worked with the GWS Giants, who generously designed a new logo for the 2020 season after the previous design required royalties. The new jumpers incorporating the GWS-designed logo debuted in 2020 alongside a new Under-14 Girls team.
Home Ground
The Giants play at Allard Park on Donald Street in East Brunswick, a ground with a football tradition stretching back well before the current club's founding. Allard Park is a community oval in the heart of inner-north Melbourne, shared with local sporting and community groups. The ground is easily accessible from Brunswick and the surrounding suburbs of Fitzroy North, Carlton North, and Princes Hill.
Community and Programs
The North Brunswick Giants JFC prides itself on being one of the most inclusive junior football clubs in Melbourne's inner north. By 2021, girls accounted for 43 per cent of all player registrations - one of the highest proportions in the YJFL. The club runs teams across the Under-7 to Under-17 age groups for both boys and girls, and has seen strong growth in the younger age brackets, with the Under-9s doubling in numbers during 2021 alone. The club is also an Auskick centre, introducing children from the surrounding area to Australian rules football at an early age. The Giants are a family-oriented club with a strong ethos around community, inclusion, and player development.
Brunswick
Brunswick is an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, located just 5 kilometres north of the Central Business District within the City of Merri-bek local government area. The suburb recorded a population of 24,896 at the 2021 census. Traditionally a working-class area with a rich multicultural history - including large Italian and Greek communities - Brunswick is today known for its bohemian culture, arts scene, live music venues, and proximity to the University of Melbourne and RMIT. Sydney Road is its bustling main thoroughfare. The Giants draw players from across Brunswick, Brunswick East, and neighbouring inner-north suburbs, and contribute meaningfully to the social fabric of a suburb with a passion for community sport going back more than 150 years.
The Giants compete in the Yarra Junior Football League and call Allard Park, East Brunswick, home. Visit the club website for news, registrations, and fixtures, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for match day updates and club news.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
