North Cairns Tigers Banners - Celebrating Every Milestone in the Tropics

Whether it's a landmark game, a season award, or a grand final celebration, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that honour the pride of the North Cairns Tigers. Give your player the recognition they've earned in true Far North Queensland style.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner formats. To personalise your banner, provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Brett Saunders, #4, 100 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner will handle even the most sweltering Queensland afternoon at Watsons Oval.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Tigers hitting the same milestone together? Our Two Player banner puts both players in the spotlight on the one banner. Just supply each player's name, guernsey number, and milestone for a shared celebration the whole club will be talking about.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honour 3 to 6 players at once with our Team Banner option. A banner reading "North Cairns Tigers - Our Champions" is the perfect centrepiece for a grand final run-through, end-of-season function, or premiership night in Cairns.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, our Wall Keepsake Banners are crafted on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to endure. Hang them in the Tigers clubrooms, at home, or in the garage as a proud tribute to every milestone achieved at Watsons Oval.

Grand Final Banners

Run out in style with a Grand Final banner in 4.5m or 5.5m, fully customised with your top and bottom text. Get in touch for design advice and make sure the North Cairns Australian Football and Sporting Club makes the impact it deserves on grand final day.

About North Cairns Tigers

Origins and Founding

The North Cairns Australian Football and Sporting Club, known as the Tigers, was founded in 1955 by Kingsley "King" Watson. In the club's early years, members took on the significant task of building their own ground from scratch. In 1959, the Lands Department granted a 15-acre parcel of swampy, undulating bushland to the club. In true pioneer spirit, men cleared logs, burned brush and marked boundaries by hand while women boiled water over campfires. The club's home ground - named Watson's in honour of King Watson - remains the heart of the Tigers to this day. A clubhouse was built in the early 1970s, and the ground underwent a major upgrade in 2018.

Club History

The North Cairns Tigers have competed in the AFL Cairns competition since the club's founding, and count senior premierships in 1986 and 1988 among their greatest achievements. In 2025, the Tigers ended a 37-year premiership drought by winning the AFL Cairns Senior Premiership, defeating Centrals Trinity Beach 12.12 (84) to 7.14 (56) in the grand final - a result described as ending one of the longest premiership droughts in Cairns football. The club also fields teams in senior women's, junior girls, and junior boys competitions, with over 300 registered players across all programs. The club has remained a family-oriented organisation throughout its 70-year history, with multiple generations of the same families represented in its membership and committee.

Home Ground

The Tigers are based at Watson's - their home ground named after club founder King Watson - in the northern Cairns suburbs. In 2018, the ground underwent a multi-million-dollar upgrade that included a resurfaced oval, new oval and court lighting, a refurbished clubhouse, bar, and kitchen, upgraded changerooms, an ice bath and gym, and a state-of-the-art extension providing disabled access and visitor changerooms. The ground serves as both a football venue and a community sporting hub for North Cairns.

Community and Programs

The North Cairns Australian Football and Sporting Club is a full-service community sporting organisation offering football and related activities for all ages and genders. The club fields senior men's and women's teams in AFL Cairns, alongside junior boys and girls programs that provide development pathways from Auskick level through to senior competition. With over 300 registered players, the club plays a significant role in the sporting life of Far North Queensland and has done so continuously for seven decades.

North Cairns

Cairns is a city in Far North Queensland, located approximately 1,700 kilometres north of Brisbane on the Coral Sea coast. The region is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, two of Australia's most significant natural environments. Cairns has a population of approximately 155,000 and serves as the main hub for the Tropical North Queensland region. The northern suburbs of Cairns, where the Tigers are based, are established residential areas close to the city centre, forming part of the broader Cairns Regional Council area.

The Tigers compete in AFL Cairns and call Watson's home. More information is available at northcairnstigers.com.au, and the club can be followed on Facebook and Instagram.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
