About Old Carey Grammarians Football Club
Origins and Founding
Old Carey Grammarians Football Club was formed in 1954 by former students of Carey Baptist Grammar School, joining the Victorian Amateur Football Association in its earliest seasons, as confirmed on the official VAFA club page. The club has played under the nickname the Panthers ever since, building a playing history that its own Club History archive traces across more than seventy years.

Club History
Old Carey won its first VAFA premiership in 1961, a milestone the club still celebrates as a defining moment in its history. A standout 2006 season in D Section brought another flag, built around a stellar individual year from Steve Collins, and the Panthers went on to win the 2010 Premier B Grand Final. The club now fields a Women's team in Division 1, with Lia Kelvie nominated as the VAFA's Week 14 Anytime Fitness Women's Rising Star during the 2025 season.

Home Ground
The Panthers play out of the Main Oval, known as Dunshea Oval, within the Carey Sports Complex on Bulleen Road, Bulleen. The complex has been the club's home for its senior, women's, Under 19 and Thirds sides for decades.

Community and Programs
Old Carey fields Premier B Men's, Division 1 Women's, Under 19 and Thirds teams each season, and the club has recently spoken about a "New Carey" generation of young players taking ownership of the club's future. Volunteers, past players and the wider Old Carey community support the club through home games and sponsor partnerships at the Carey Sports Complex.

Bulleen
Bulleen is an eastern Melbourne suburb around 13 kilometres from the CBD, within the City of Manningham. The suburb recorded a population of 11,219 at the 2021 census, and takes its name from the nearby Bolin Bolin Billabong on the Yarra River.
