About Parkside Devils Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Parkside Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was established on 19 January 1934 following a public meeting at the Alphington Hotel in Melbourne's inner northern suburbs. In its earliest years the club considered entering the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) but found admission too difficult and instead joined the Victorian Churches Football Association (VCFA). After establishing itself in that competition, the club successfully applied for VAFA membership in 1938 and has maintained a strong presence in Melbourne's amateur football scene ever since. Parkside is part of the broader Parkside Sports Club, which also encompasses the Parkside Junior Football Club as well as cricket, golf, and netball programs, making it a genuinely multi-sport community organisation.
Club History
Parkside competed continuously in the Victorian Amateur Football Association from 1938 through to 2002, claiming VAFA premierships in 1954, 1963, 1972, 1982, and 1988 during that era. At the end of the 2002 season, the club made the significant decision to leave the VAFA and join the Diamond Valley Football League (DVFL), which was later renamed the Northern Football League (NFL). After 12 seasons in the NFL, Parkside returned to the VAFA for the 2015 season, rejoining the competition where they had built their historic reputation. In 2023, the club claimed its sixth VAFA premiership, completing a remarkable chapter after their return to amateur football's premier Victorian competition. Parkside's men's team currently competes in Division 1 of the VAFA, while the women's team also plays in Division 1 of the VAFAW.
Home Ground
Parkside FC has called Pitcher Park in Alphington its home base throughout the club's history. Pitcher Park is a community sporting ground located in the City of Darebin, providing the club with facilities for both training and match days. Alphington is a leafy inner northern suburb of Melbourne situated approximately 7 kilometres from the CBD, bordered by Fairfield, Ivanhoe, and Thornbury. The park also hosts the club's junior teams and serves as the social hub for the broader Parkside Sports Club community throughout both the football and cricket seasons.
Community and Programs
Parkside fields senior men's and women's teams in the VAFA, as well as a team in the Victorian FIDA Football League, a competition specifically for players with intellectual disabilities, underscoring the club's commitment to inclusive football. The Parkside Junior Football Club provides the next generation of local talent with a pathway into senior football. The club's long history at Pitcher Park has created strong multigenerational bonds within the Alphington and surrounding communities, with many families maintaining involvement across multiple generations. The Devils pride themselves on a welcoming club culture that extends from junior football through to senior and veteran players.
Alphington
Alphington is an inner northern suburb of Melbourne, situated in the City of Darebin approximately 7 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD. The suburb is bordered by the Yarra River to the south and east, with Fairfield, Ivanhoe, and Thornbury as neighbours. Alphington is characterised by its quiet residential streets, significant tree canopy, and proximity to the Fairfield boathouse and Yarra River parklands. The suburb has undergone considerable development over the past two decades with the transformation of the former Alphington Paper Mill site into a major residential and mixed-use precinct, bringing new residents to the area and expanding the community from which Parkside draws its membership.

Footy Banner Information
Material: All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
