About Peninsula Sharks Football Club
Origins and Founding
Peninsula Sharks Football Club was established in 2023 as a joint venture between four Bellarine junior clubs, Drysdale, Leopold, Portarlington and Queenscliff, giving local girls a dedicated pathway to keep playing football, as explained on the club's official website. The concept began years earlier, when an AFL Barwon Under 18 girls team under the Peninsula Sharks name was first proposed in 2019 before growing into today's standalone club.

Club History
Since forming in 2023, the Sharks have expanded from a handful of older age groups into a full junior girls program, adding its first Under 10s all-girls team ahead of the 2026 season. As reported by the Bellarine Times, president Belinda Harvey has helped grow the club by prioritising player feedback and giving girls a genuine voice in how their teams are run.

Home Ground
As a club formed from four existing football netball clubs, the Sharks do not play from a single home ground, instead training and playing matches across grounds shared with Drysdale, Leopold, Portarlington and Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. This shared model lets the club draw players from across the peninsula while keeping games close to home for every family.

Community and Programs
Peninsula Sharks describes itself as the only dedicated female junior football club in its region, fielding teams from Under 10s through to Under 17s in AFL Barwon competition. The club places a strong emphasis on women in leadership roles, with committee members like Kelly McIvor crediting the club with building lasting friendships and confidence for both players and parents.

Bellarine Peninsula
The Bellarine Peninsula is home to around 70,000 people and forms part of the City of Greater Geelong. Known to the Wadawurrung people as Balla-wein, the peninsula is known today for its beaches, wineries and seaside towns, drawing holidaymakers to Drysdale, Portarlington, Queenscliff and the wider region every summer.
