About Port Macquarie Sharks Rugby League Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Port Macquarie Sharks Rugby League Football Club was established in 1931, originally competing under the name the Port Macquarie Magpies. In 1973, the club rebranded as the Sharks, aligning with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks NRL club. Since that rebrand, the Sharks have grown into one of the most successful and well-resourced clubs in country NSW rugby league, competing primarily in the Group 3 Rugby League competition which covers the NSW Mid North Coast region.

Club History and Premierships
The Sharks have accumulated 13 First Grade premierships across two regional competitions. During their time in the Group 3 competition, the club has won eight titles: in 1976, 1990, 1991, 1992, 2015, 2018, and 2024. Their five Group 2 premierships came in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2006, and 2010. The club also claimed the Clayton's Cup - awarded to the best country team in NSW - in 2001 and 2015, and were named Group 3 Club Champions in 2024. Their 2024 season included a home grand final, making them one of the dominant forces in the competition's recent era.

Notable Alumni
The Sharks have served as a proving ground for players who progressed to the NRL. Jeremy Latimore, who went on to play NRL football for the Penrith Panthers, St George Illawarra Dragons, Cronulla Sharks, and Brisbane Broncos, has been associated with the club. Harry Wells is recognised in the NRL Hall of Fame, while John Fisher and Greg Hill are both inductees in the Group 3 Hall of Fame for their contributions to the local competition.

Home Ground
The Sharks play their home fixtures at the Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium on Boundary Street, Port Macquarie. The stadium features a 1,000-seat undercover grandstand and floodlighting, making it one of the premier country rugby league venues on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Community and Programs
Port Macquarie Sharks fields teams across all grades from junior development through to First Grade and Women's Tackle. The club is central to the sporting fabric of the Port Macquarie community, drawing supporters from across the Hastings region and serving as a development pathway for players aspiring to state and national competition.
