Shellharbour City Suns Banners - Sunshine Coast Footy, Celebrated in Style
Since 2011, the Suns have been building something special on the Illawarra coast, and FootyBanners.com is here to help mark every milestone along the way with a fully custom banner that the whole club will remember.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options and supply the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone (for example, Zoe Chen, #10, 50 Games). Banners use permanent inks on heavy-duty paper that holds its own through a blustery NSW coastal afternoon at the ground.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Suns players share the same milestone on the same day, our Two Player banner puts them both in the spotlight. Provide both players' names and guernsey numbers and we'll produce a quality banner worthy of the occasion.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
Celebrating 3 to 6 players at once? Our Team Banner option is the answer. Set a top-line message like "Rise Up Suns!" and give the whole group a banner they'll be proud to run through together.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are produced on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. A great keepsake for the Suns clubrooms, a garage, or a games room at home.
Grand Final Banners
When the Suns are playing for the flag, make it a day to remember with a Grand Final banner in 4.5m or 5.5m. Top and bottom text is fully customised for Shellharbour City Suns AFC. Contact us early for wording and design support.
About Shellharbour City Suns AFC
Origins and Club Structure
The Shellharbour City Football Club was established in 1967 and has grown into one of the largest junior Australian rules football clubs in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. The club operates primarily as a junior football organisation, providing programs for players from entry-level through to under-18 competition. In 2025, the club rebranded from Shellharbour Junior FC to Shellharbour City FC to better reflect its broader community scope and membership base. The senior AFL team competes under the Suns banner in the AFL South Coast competition.
Senior AFL Competition
The Shellharbour City Suns AFC compete in the AFL South Coast competition, which provides senior men's Australian rules football across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and South Coast regions of New South Wales. The senior Suns were established in 2011, providing a pathway for players from the junior program to progress to senior competition. The AFL South Coast draws clubs from Wollongong, Shellharbour, Nowra, Kiama and surrounding communities, operating in partnership with AFL NSW/ACT.
Home Ground
The Suns play home fixtures at Myimbarr Oval in Shellharbour, which serves as the primary venue for AFL South Coast matches in the area. The ground is a central sporting facility in the Shellharbour community and hosts both junior and senior football programs throughout the season.
Community and Programs
As one of the Illawarra's most active junior football clubs, Shellharbour City FC provides football programs for all ages. The club's volunteer-based structure has been a defining feature since 1967, with the support of local businesses and families central to its ongoing operation. The 2025 rebrand to Shellharbour City FC reflects the club's evolution into a whole-of-community organisation serving players across all age groups and levels.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
