SMOSH West Lakes Banners - Celebrating the Lake Sharks

Honour a special achievement with a custom banner from FootyBanners.com for the SMOSH West Lakes Football Club. From a first milestone game to a senior century, a personalised Lake Sharks banner is a tribute your player will keep forever.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For player banners, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Sam Russo, #23, 100 Games. Banners are produced with permanent weatherproof inks on heavy-duty paper, designed to stand up on a warm Adelaide afternoon at the lake.

Two Players, One Banner

If two Lake Sharks are reaching the same milestone, celebrate them both on a single run-through banner. Both players must share the same milestone, and you'll provide both names and guernsey numbers. A quality two-player banner is a moment neither will forget.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Bring 3-6 players together on a Team Banner to mark a fantastic season or finals appearance. Set the top message to something like "SMOSH West Lakes - On The March!" and rally the club behind a banner that captures the moment. Go the Lake Sharks!

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners are available in Small, Medium, and Large, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang your SMOSH West Lakes banner in the clubrooms, a garage, or the games room as a lasting symbol of club pride.

About SMOSH West Lakes Football Club

Origins and Founding

The SMOSH West Lakes Football Club was formed in 1996 through the merger of two clubs with distinct but complementary histories. The first of these was the Semaphore Park Football Club, founded in 1951, which later became West Lakes Football Club in 1984 following the rapid residential development of the West Lakes area north-west of Adelaide's CBD. The second was the Hindmarsh CYMS Football Club, established in 1968 as a Catholic youth organisation club in Hindmarsh, which adopted the name SMOSH in 1975, an acronym standing for Saint Michaels Old Scholars Hindmarsh. When these two clubs united in 1996 under the umbrella of the West Lakes Sports and Social Club, the SMOSH West Lakes Football Club was born, bringing together more than four decades of combined football history.

Club History

Since its formation in 1996, SMOSH West Lakes has competed in the Adelaide Footy League, progressing through various divisions over the decades. The club fields men's senior sides in the competition and has developed a strong women's program as the sport has grown across South Australia. The Lions draw on a broad membership base across the north-western Adelaide suburbs, including the established communities of Semaphore Park, West Lakes, and Henley Beach. The club's merger heritage has given it deep community roots across multiple suburbs and a diverse membership that reflects the evolving character of Adelaide's north-western corridor.

Home Ground

SMOSH West Lakes plays at home grounds in the West Lakes and surrounding area, situated in Adelaide's north-western suburbs along the Le Fevre Peninsula corridor. West Lakes itself was developed from the 1970s onwards around a purpose-built lake environment, transforming former market garden land into a modern residential suburb. The West Lakes Sports and Social Club facility provides the club with a community hub that serves both the football and broader sporting membership throughout the year.

Community and Programs

SMOSH West Lakes fields men's senior and women's teams in the Adelaide Footy League, competing across multiple grades. The club's junior program gives young players from the north-western suburbs a pathway into senior football, continuing the community-development focus that has characterised both predecessor clubs since the 1950s and 1960s. The Lions are committed to growing women's football and have actively recruited and developed female players as the Adelaide Footy League's women's competition has expanded in recent years. The club's social and recreational activities extend beyond football to serve the broader West Lakes community.

West Lakes

West Lakes is an affluent residential suburb situated approximately 12 kilometres north-west of the Adelaide CBD, in the City of Charles Sturt. Developed from the late 1960s onwards around a man-made coastal lake environment, West Lakes is notable for its waterfront properties and proximity to AAMI Stadium, previously the home of AFL club Port Adelaide. The suburb borders Henley Beach, Fulham Gardens, and Semaphore Park, and forms part of Adelaide's western coastal corridor. The West Lakes area has a strong sporting culture, with a range of clubs and facilities serving the local community across multiple sports.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
