About South Mildura Doggies Football Club
Origins and Founding
The South Mildura Football Club was formed in 1945 and was one of the founding members of the Sunraysia Football League in that same year. Known affectionately as the Doggies - and formally as the Bulldogs - the club is one of Mildura's oldest and most enduring sporting institutions. South Mildura operates as the South Mildura Sporting Club, fielding both football and netball teams across senior and junior competitions.

Club History
The Bulldogs claimed their first SFL premiership in 1968 and went on to win three consecutive flags through 1968, 1969 and 1970, establishing themselves as the dominant club in the region during that era. A fourth SFL premiership followed in 1998. The club has also been a breeding ground for elite talent, with notable alumni including Lochie O'Brien (Carlton), Robbie Tarrant (North Melbourne) and Chris Tarrant (Collingwood and Fremantle). South Mildura currently has over 350 registered footballers and netballers across all grades, making it one of the largest community sporting clubs in north-west Victoria.

Home Ground
South Mildura plays its home games at No. 3 Oval in Mildura, a ground that has been the spiritual home of the club since its founding in 1945. The oval is embedded in the fabric of the local community and hosts junior and senior competitions throughout the football and netball seasons.

Community and Programs
The South Mildura Sporting Club runs comprehensive junior development programs in both football and netball, providing a clear pathway from junior grades through to senior competition. The club prides itself on its welcoming community environment and regularly hosts social events, school engagement activities, and club fundraisers throughout the season.

Mildura
Mildura is a regional city in north-west Victoria, situated on the Murray River approximately 550 kilometres from Melbourne. It is known as the centre of the Sunraysia region, famous for its production of dried fruits, citrus, table grapes, and almonds. The city has a population of around 35,000 and is a hub for tourism, hospitality and agriculture in the mallee borderlands of the Murray.
