About Werribee Centrals Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
Werribee Centrals was formed in 1969 as the Werribee Centrals Sports and Youth Club, established after an earlier amalgamation involving the original Werribee Football Club was disbanded, as the club explains on its own history page. The new club competed as a senior football side in the old Western Suburbs Football League, where it won premierships in 1976, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Club History
In 1984 the club left the Western Suburbs competition to join the Geelong and District Football League, changing its nickname from the Tigers to the Centurions in the process. Centrals went on to win further football premierships in 1987, 1989, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004, with reserves flags in 1998, 2006 and 2010 and an Under 18s premiership in 2007 and 2008. Netball joined the club's program in 2002, and the B and C Grade sides won premierships in their very first season, a foundation for a netball department that has gone on to add further GDFL premierships through to 2023.

Home Ground
The Centurions play home games at Galvin Park on Shaws Road, Werribee, after the local council directed the club to relocate there from its original Soldiers Reserve home. Galvin Park offers two football grounds along with turf cricket wickets, allowing the club to house its multiple sporting sections on the one site.

Community and Programs
Beyond football and netball, Werribee Centrals runs a cricket section formed in 1976 to keep Galvin Park in use throughout the year, which has since grown to five senior and seven junior sides. The club fields senior and junior teams across football, netball and cricket, giving Werribee families a year-round sporting home.

Werribee
Werribee is a suburb around 32 kilometres southwest of Melbourne's CBD, within the City of Wyndham. It recorded a population of 50,027 at the 2021 census, and its name is derived from an Aboriginal word describing the "backbone" or "spine" of the region's river system.
