Ajax Jackas Banners - Proud Moments for a Proud Club
Ajax Football Club has a long and distinguished history in Melbourne footy, and when a Jackas player reaches a milestone, it deserves to be recognised in style. FootyBanners.com makes it simple to create a fully custom banner celebrating your favourite Ajax player.
Simple to Order
Pick your banner type - Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final - then provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone, for example: Daniel Cohen, #9, 200 Games. All banners use permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, built to last through many a blustery Melbourne winter on the outer wing.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Jackas players are celebrating milestones in the same game, a Two Player Banner brings both achievements together in one great keepsake. Provide both players' names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone - we'll handle the rest.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
When 3 to 6 players are all celebrating milestones in the same round, a Team Banner does justice to the whole group. Customise with all the details and a top-line message such as "Ajax Football Club - Jackas Legends" for a banner the whole club will love.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks that endure. Hang one proudly in the Ajax clubrooms, at home, or in the games room as a lasting tribute to a great Jackas career.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, Grand Final Banners feature customised top and bottom text for Ajax Football Club. Contact us for design advice and let's make your Ajax Grand Final day unforgettable.
About Ajax Jackas
Origins and Founding
Ajax Football Club was formed by Melbourne's Jewish community in 1957, making it Australia's first and only fully Jewish club competing in Australian rules football. The club joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) that same year and has competed in amateur football in Melbourne's inner suburbs ever since. The Jackas have built a proud identity rooted in inclusion, community, and a genuine love of the game - values that have kept the club thriving for nearly seven decades.
Club History
Ajax's on-field journey through the VAFA is one of the competition's great stories of progress. After winning their first flag in E Section in 1966, the club climbed steadily up the grades, taking out the E Section premiership again in 1975 and then achieving back-to-back promotions to reach B Section by 1978. The 1979 B Section premiership remains the club's most celebrated senior flag. In 2011, Ajax claimed the Premier C premiership and secured a long-running stint in Premier B according to the VAFA. In 2017, the club made headlines by appointing former Port Adelaide premiership coach Mark Williams as senior coach, the highest-profile appointment in the club's history. The women's program was also launched in 2017. Ajax have since made history off the field too, electing their first ever female president, Alida Lipton.
Home Ground
Ajax play their home games at Gary Smorgon Oval in Albert Park, with the David Mandie Pavilion serving as the club's base. The oval is located at Aughtie Drive in Albert Park and sits within the broader Albert Park precinct - one of Melbourne's most iconic sporting and recreational areas.
Community and Programs
Beyond their senior men's program, Ajax fields a women's team and an Under 19s/Thirds team, all competing at Albert Park. The club also operates Ajax Junior Football Club, which introduces the game to younger players and serves as a development pathway into senior football. Ajax's community roots remain strong - the club is open to all, continuing the inclusive spirit it was built on in 1957.
Albert Park
Albert Park is an inner suburb of Melbourne located just 4 km south of the CBD, within the City of Port Phillip. The suburb recorded a population of 6,044 at the 2021 census and is known for its wide tree-lined streets, heritage terrace homes, and the Albert Park Lake precinct, which has hosted the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix since 1996. Gary Smorgon Oval sits within this precinct, giving Ajax one of the most scenic grounds in Melbourne amateur football.
The Jackas compete in the VAFA's Premier B and call Gary Smorgon Oval home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
