Altona Vikings Junior Football Club Banners - Celebrate Every Junior Milestone

When a young Viking hits a milestone worth cheering, FootyBanners.com has you covered with a fully personalised banner made just for them. From first games to milestone matches, our custom banners make every Altona Vikings Junior celebration one to remember.

Simple to Order

Choose from our Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Just send us your player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jake Atchison, #11, 50 Games. Our permanent weatherproof inks are printed on heavy-duty paper built to handle everything from a cold Melbourne winter to a sweltering summer afternoon on the oval.

Two Players, One Banner

Celebrating the same milestone with a teammate? Our Two Player banner puts both young Vikings on the one banner - just send us both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone you're celebrating together. A great way to honour two junior players at the same time.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Got a group of 3 to 6 players hitting a milestone in the same season? Our Team Banner option is perfect for the junior Vikings. Use a top-line message like "Altona Vikings Junior All-Stars" and let the whole team run through together - because celebrating as one is what Viking footy is all about.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Our Wall Keepsake Banners come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to last. They look great in the clubrooms, a garage, or the games room - a lasting reminder of what it means to play for the junior Vikings.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, our Grand Final banners are fully customised with your top and bottom text. Contact us for design advice to create the ultimate run-through experience for the Altona Vikings Junior Football Club's biggest games of the season.

About Altona Vikings Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Altona Vikings Junior Football Club traces its roots to 1918, when the Altona Football Club was founded in a Pier Street cafe in Altona by James Duke, Dick Blomberg, and a group of local businesspeople. Juniors were introduced to the club in 1965 as the senior club expanded its operations. In 1991, the junior program transitioned into its own separate entity - the Altona Junior Football Club - while remaining closely aligned with the senior Vikings as one extended family, sharing the same purple and gold guernsey and the same theme song.

Club History

Across more than three decades as an independent club, the Altona Vikings Juniors have built a strong tradition in junior Australian rules football in Melbourne's western suburbs. The club competes within the Western Football Netball League (WFNL), the same competition that hosts the senior Vikings in Division 1. The junior program covers age groups from Auskick right through to Under 18s, providing a clear pathway for young players to progress through the ranks toward senior football. Several players who came through the Altona junior system have gone on to VFL and AFL level - most notably Trent McKenzie, who played 128 games for the Gold Coast Suns from 2011 to 2017 before moving to Port Adelaide, and Emerson Jeka, who played for Hawthorn from 2020 to 2023 and then joined Geelong in 2024.

Home Ground

The Altona Vikings Juniors play their home games at JK Grant Reserve, Sugargum Drive, Altona VIC 3018 - the same ground used by the senior Vikings. Named after John K. Grant, a long-time patron of sport in the area, the reserve sits adjacent to Cherry Lake and is a well-established community sports precinct managed by Hobsons Bay City Council. The senior club plays on Simonds Oval within the reserve, and the junior club uses the same facility for training and match days.

Community and Programs

The Altona Vikings Junior Football Club explicitly welcomes players of all abilities and all genders, reflecting a broad commitment to inclusive community sport. The club runs a junior Auskick program as an entry point for young children, alongside competitive age-group teams through to Under 18s. The club is actively involved in the broader Altona community and acknowledges the Boonwurrung people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which the reserve sits. The junior and senior clubs continue to cooperate closely, with the junior club at PO Box 1099, Altona Meadows, and shared facilities at JK Grant Reserve.

Altona

Altona is a residential and coastal suburb 13 km south-west of central Melbourne, located on Altona Bay on Port Phillip Bay within the City of Hobsons Bay. The suburb has a population of approximately 9,900 (2011 census) and is known for its beachfront esplanade, the Cherry Lake conservation reserve, and a strong community character shaped by postwar European migration. Altona was proclaimed a separate shire in 1957 and a city in 1968, before being amalgamated into Hobsons Bay City Council in 1994. Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard lived in Altona during her federal parliamentary career and described the suburb as having a distinctive "village feel".

The Vikings compete in the Western Football Netball League and call JK Grant Reserve, Sugargum Drive, Altona home. • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy
