Avondale Heights Football Club Banners - Celebrate Every Milestone

From milestone games to end-of-season presentations, FootyBanners.com makes it easy to honour the players who give everything for the Hawks. Whether you are celebrating a 50-game milestone or a grand final victory, a custom banner is the perfect way to mark the occasion.

Simple to Order

Choose from our Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. For player banners, just provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jake Williams, #7, 100 Games. Our banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, built to handle everything from a crisp Melbourne morning to a bitter winter afternoon at Canning Street Reserve.

Two Players, One Banner

Sharing a milestone game on the same round? Our Two Player banner lets you celebrate both players on a single, quality banner. Just supply both names, guernsey numbers, and the milestone being recognised - both players deserve to be remembered.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For squad-wide celebrations, our Team Banner fits 3 to 6 players on one banner. A great top-line message might read: "Avondale Heights Hawks - Champions of the EDFL". Team banners are perfect for premiership wins, end-of-season nights, or any moment the whole group deserves recognition.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large sizes, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks and designed to last for years. Whether they end up in the clubrooms, the garage, or the games room, Hawks players and supporters will treasure these as a permanent reminder of their footy journey.

Grand Final Banners

Our Grand Final Banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, fully customised with your choice of top and bottom text. Whether it is the Avondale Heights Football Club's first appearance or another memorable finals campaign, contact us for personalised design advice to make the banner truly special.

About Avondale Heights Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Avondale Heights Football Club was established in September 1965, when a small group of local residents gathered at St James Church in Macey Street to form a club for the youth of the suburb. The club began as a junior outfit before developing into a full senior competition club in the Essendon District Football League (EDFL), a competition that serves the north-western suburbs of Melbourne. The founding club also encompasses cricket and netball, making it a genuine multi-sport community organisation from its earliest days.

Club History

The Hawks won their first senior premiership in 1976 in B Grade, before earning promotion to A Grade in 1977. After years of consolidation at the top level, the club claimed the A Grade flag in 1987 - their highest-grade triumph. Two A3 Grade premierships followed in 1980 and 1984, and in 2004 the senior side claimed the B Grade title undefeated, capping an extraordinary season. The club has produced five premierships in total across its history.

Avondale Heights is also notable for the AFL talent it has produced. Matthew Lloyd went on to play 270 games for Essendon, kicking a club-record 926 goals, winning the Coleman Medal, and earning induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Other graduates include Ken Mansfield (48 games, Essendon, 1976-80), Peter Baxter (23 games, Footscray, 1985-88), Brad Lloyd (11 games, Hawthorn, 1997-99), and Gary Barrow (6 games, Footscray, 1992-93).

Home Ground

The Hawks play their home games at Canning Street Reserve, located in the heart of Avondale Heights. The ground has served as the club's base since its early years and is shared with the club's cricket and netball sections, cementing its role as a true community sporting hub in Melbourne's north-west.

Community and Programs

The Avondale Heights Football Club fields teams from under-10s through to open-age, providing a pathway for juniors in the area to develop their game from grassroots level all the way to senior competition. The club's multi-sport structure - incorporating football, cricket, and netball - means families can participate across multiple codes under the one banner, reinforcing its status as a pillar of local community life.

Avondale Heights

Avondale Heights is a residential suburb situated 11 km north-west of Melbourne's CBD within the City of Moonee Valley local government area. Covering 5.4 km², the suburb recorded a population of 12,388 at the 2021 Census. It is bordered by the Maribyrnong River to the east and is characterised by established housing stock, open parklands, and strong community ties. The area grew rapidly from the late 1950s onwards, and the football club has been central to its social fabric ever since.

The Hawks compete in the Essendon District Football League and call Canning Street Reserve, Avondale Heights, home. Visit the club website for news, fixtures, and club information, and follow the Hawks on Facebook for match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
