Banyule Bears Banners - Northern Football Milestones Celebrated in Style

From a player's 100th game in the bears strip to a grand final push in the Northern Football League, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that bring the Banyule community together. Order yours and let the Bears faithful celebrate in proper style.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Tom Edwards, #5, 150 Games. All banners use permanent inks on heavy-duty paper built to hold up through a bitter Melbourne winter without losing any of their impact.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Bears players reach the same milestone on the same day, our Two Player Banner lets you celebrate them side by side. Provide both names and guernsey numbers and we'll deliver a quality dual banner that Banyule supporters will remember.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

For 3 to 6 players marking a milestone together, our Team Banner is the way to go. Feature a top-line message like "Go Bears!" and list every player being honoured. A fantastic option for a milestone round or club presentation night in Heidelberg.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang a Bears keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or games room and keep the memory of a great season well within sight.

Grand Final Banners

Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text, our Grand Final Banners are made for the biggest days in the Northern Football League season. Contact us for design advice and let FootyBanners.com help Banyule Football Netball Club make a statement on grand final day.

About Banyule Bears Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Banyule Bears Football Netball Club traces its roots to the Banyule Junior Football Club (BJFC), which was formed in 1967 and moved to its present home at Beverley Road, Heidelberg in 1973. The senior Bears club was established to allow young players who had completed their underage football with the BJFC to continue playing for Banyule into adulthood. The club maintains a close affiliation with RMIT University Union and Viewbank College, giving it a distinctive connection to tertiary education alongside its deep community football roots.

Club History

The Banyule Bears compete in the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL), fielding Senior Men's, Senior Women's, Reserves, and Under 18s teams. Over the decades, the club has produced 16 players who have gone on to play at VFL or AFL level. Among the most notable are Brent Stanton, who played over 200 games for Essendon, and Brayden Sier, who was drafted by Carlton and later played for Melbourne. The junior arm, Banyule JFC, competes in the Yarra Junior Football League, described as the largest junior football league in Australia, and registers more than 280 junior players across 17 teams from Under 8s to Youth level.

Home Ground

Both the senior Bears and Banyule JFC play out of R.J. Brockwell Oval at 50 Beverley Road, Heidelberg. The ground and clubrooms serve the entire Banyule football community across junior and senior competitions. The BJFC also runs an Auskick program on Saturday mornings at the ground, regularly attracting more than 100 participants each season.

Community and Programs

Community is central to the Banyule Bears. The club is connected to numerous local primary and secondary schools including St Johns, St Martins, Banyule Primary, Viewbank Primary, and Rosanna Primary. The junior pathway allows players to join from age 7 through Auskick and progress through to senior Bears sides. The club fields three female junior sides, reflecting its commitment to growing women's football in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Heidelberg

Heidelberg is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, located approximately 11 kilometres northeast of the Central Business District within the City of Banyule local government area. The suburb recorded a population of 7,360 at the 2021 census. Heidelberg is one of Melbourne's earliest rural settlements and lends its name to the Heidelberg School, the landmark Australian impressionist art movement of the late 19th century.

The Banyule Bears compete in the Northern Football Netball League and call R.J. Brockwell Oval in Heidelberg home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and check the Banyule JFC website for junior football news and registration.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
