About Burnside Heights Bears Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Burnside Heights Football Club, known as the Bears, was established in 2012 after a founding vision that began in 2010 to create a community football club for the growing western Melbourne suburb of Burnside Heights. The club entered the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) and quickly built a strong base of junior and senior participants. The Bears' home ground is located at 115 Tenterfield Drive, Burnside Heights (Melways Ref: 13 A11), and the venue has become known locally as "the Bear Cave".

Club History

Since their debut season, the Bears have developed into a multi-team club fielding 13 sides across junior and senior competitions in the EDFL. The club has won a number of EDFL awards and continues to grow year-on-year. In 2024, senior coach Cole Harvey was awarded EDFL Division 2 Coach of the Year, Krissy Trang won the EDFL Best and Fairest for Division 1 Women for the second consecutive year, Kayla Ravanello won EDFL Division 1 Captain of the Year, and Jordan Hughes claimed the EDFL Best and Fairest for Division 2. The club's Under-18s side also claimed a premiership in recent seasons, with multiple players from that cohort progressing into the senior program in 2026. A record number of junior players have been selected in inter-league representative squads, reflecting the strength of the Bears' player development pathway.

Home Ground

The Bears play their home games at the Burnside Heights Football Club oval at 115 Tenterfield Drive in Burnside Heights. The venue is shared with the club's junior and senior programs and is positioned in the heart of the Burnside Heights community, adjacent to the suburb's residential growth corridor. The ground is accessible from Caroline Springs and Taylors Hill to the north and west.

Community and Programs

From Auskick through to Senior Men's and Women's teams, Burnside Heights Bears FC provides football opportunities for players of all ages. The club runs 13 teams in the EDFL and has an active AusKick centre that ties into the junior program. The Bears pride themselves on a family-friendly culture, with junior players progressing into senior ranks and the club maintaining strong ties to the broader Burnside Heights community. The women's program competes in EDFL women's divisions and has produced multiple award winners.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
