Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. To get started, provide the player's name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Jake Hall, #21, 100 Games. Printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper, your banner is made to last through a bitter Melbourne winter game without losing a drop of quality.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Cobras reaching the same milestone calls for a Two Player Banner. Celebrate them both side by side with both names, guernsey numbers, and the shared milestone on one quality keepsake banner.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Put 3 to 6 players on a Team Banner and turn the game day run-through into something unforgettable. A top-line message like "Go Cobras!" or a special team dedication captures the spirit of a great season.

About Canterbury Football Club

Origins and Founding

Canterbury Football Club, known as the Cobras, was established in 1881, making it one of Melbourne's oldest continuously operating football clubs - founded just four years after the Victorian Football Association itself. Based in the inner-eastern Melbourne suburb of Canterbury, the club has competed across multiple league structures over its 140-plus year history, including the Eastern Suburban Football League, the South East Suburban Football League, the Eastern Football League, and now the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).

Club History

Canterbury's history includes premierships spanning more than five decades. The club won the SESFL in 1972 under coach Les Foote and claimed the SESFL Division 2 flag in 1991. After a difficult period in the Eastern Football League from 2009 to 2013, during which they won just 18 of 84 games, the Cobras moved to the VAFA in 2014. The result was immediate: Canterbury finished third in their debut VAFA season and won the Division 3 premiership in 2015. They went on to claim a second VAFA Division 3 premiership in 2024, earning promotion to Division 2 for the 2025 season. Notable VFL/AFL alumni include Bob Pratt (South Melbourne), Peter Curran (Hawthorn and Brisbane Bears), and Luke Penny (St Kilda). The women's program was established in 2017 as part of the inaugural VAFA Women's competition.

Home Ground

The Cobras play at Canterbury Sports Ground, located in the heart of the Canterbury suburb in Melbourne's inner east. The ground has been the club's home for many years and provides facilities for both the men's and women's programs. Canterbury Sports Ground is surrounded by the leafy residential streets and heritage character that define the suburb, and offers a welcoming venue for both home and away supporters.

Community and Programs

The Cobras field men's and women's teams in the VAFA, with the men competing in Division 2 and the women in Division 4. The club is committed to growing participation in both programs and has a strong community culture built around the shared history of the Canterbury area. The women's program, which began in the inaugural 2017 VAFAW competition, has continued to develop year on year. The club's song, sung to the tune of Victory March - the same melody as the Sydney Swans - has been a fixture of Canterbury matchdays for generations.

Canterbury

Canterbury is an affluent inner-eastern suburb of Melbourne, located approximately 11 kilometres east of the CBD within the City of Boroondara. Known for its wide, tree-lined streets, heritage homes, and proximity to the Yarra River, Canterbury is one of Melbourne's most desirable residential suburbs. The suburb sits between Camberwell and Surrey Hills, with Canterbury Road as its main commercial and transport corridor. The area has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its strong community identity, quality schools, and leafy parkland character.

The Cobras compete in the VAFA and call Canterbury Sports Ground home. Visit the club at canterburyfootball.club, follow them on Facebook, or on Instagram.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
