About Clyde Cougars Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Clyde Cougars Junior Football Club was founded in 2020 to serve the growing community in Clyde and its surrounding south-east Melbourne suburbs. The club was established in one of Melbourne's fastest-growing outer corridors, where rapid residential development had created demand for new community sporting infrastructure. From its founding, the club committed to building an inclusive environment catering for boys and girls of all backgrounds and skill levels, and quickly attracted a growing cohort of young players from across the Clyde, Clyde North and Cranbourne East areas.

Club History

Despite being a young club, the Clyde Cougars have grown rapidly since 2020, adding teams across multiple age groups and expanding their girls' football program. In 2023 the club was recognised with club-level awards reflecting its development and community standing. After a period where the club temporarily operated away from its home ground, the return to Clyde Recreation Reserve allowed registration numbers to grow by an additional 86 participants. On 31 August 2025, the club made history when its under-13 Navy team - coached by Mick - won the club's first-ever premiership, defeating Cranbourne JFC at Casey Fields after going undefeated throughout the season. The achievement marked a defining milestone for a club that had gone from nothing to premiership-winning in just five years.

Home Ground

The Cougars are based at Clyde Recreation Reserve, which serves as the hub for training and home matches across the club's junior age groups. The reserve is located in central Clyde, providing an accessible and well-positioned facility for families across the suburb and surrounding areas. The club is affiliated with AFL South East, the regional body responsible for developing Australian rules football in Melbourne's south-eastern growth corridor.

Community and Programs

The Clyde Cougars run programs from Auskick (for ages 5 to 8) through to under-18s, with boys and girls teams across multiple age groups. The club places particular emphasis on inclusion, providing a welcoming environment for players of all experience levels and celebrating diversity across its player and family membership. The club cooperates with AFL South East to provide coaching resources and competition pathways, ensuring young players from Clyde have access to a structured development journey through all stages of junior football.

Clyde

Clyde is a suburb in the City of Casey in Melbourne's south-eastern growth corridor, located approximately 45 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD. The 2021 census recorded a population of approximately 11,177 residents, reflecting the significant residential development that has transformed this formerly rural area into a dense outer-suburban community. Clyde North, adjacent to Clyde, has experienced some of the highest population growth rates in Victoria in recent years, making the area a focal point for new community sporting clubs like the Cougars.

The Cougars compete in AFL South East junior competitions and call Clyde Recreation Reserve home. Visit the club at clydefc.com.au and follow along on Facebook.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
