About Craigieburn Eagles Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Craigieburn Eagles Football Club was founded in 1967 by local resident Jim McKessy in the township of Craigieburn, 27 kilometres north of Melbourne. The club initially applied to enter the Riddell District Football League (RDFL) for the 1971 season but was unsuccessful, before successfully re-applying and debuting in 1972. Their first senior match was against Sunbury - a heavy defeat - but the club progressively improved, recording its first win on 3 May 1973 against Romsey after a 21-match losing streak.
Club History
Craigieburn competed in the Riddell District Football League from 1972 until 2000, claiming their first senior premiership in the 1979 RDFL Second Division and winning the RDFL First Division in 1993. In 2001 the Eagles moved to the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) and won the B Grade premiership in 2005. Further Division 1 premierships followed in 2016 and 2019. The club reached the EDFL Preliminary Final in 2025, finishing third overall. In total the Eagles have claimed five senior premierships: in 1979, 1993, 2005, 2016, and 2019. The club's nickname honours their Eagles identity with the club song "Glory, Glory for the mighty Brown and White."
Home Ground
The Eagles play at D.S. Aitken Reserve in Craigieburn, and also use Highgate Reserve Oval 2 in Craigieburn. Both grounds are community sporting ovals situated in the northern growth corridor of Melbourne's outer suburbs within the City of Hume. The grounds serve the club's senior and junior programs throughout the EDFL season.
Community and Programs
Craigieburn FC fields senior men's and women's teams in the EDFL, as well as junior teams. The club is a central community institution in Craigieburn, which has grown rapidly as part of Melbourne's northern corridor expansion. The Eagles are affiliated with the EDFL and play alongside clubs from across Melbourne's north-western suburbs.
Craigieburn
Craigieburn is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, located approximately 27 kilometres north of Melbourne's CBD in the City of Hume. The suburb has grown dramatically in recent decades as part of Melbourne's northern urban corridor, and had a population of over 60,000 people at the 2021 Census, making it one of Australia's fastest-growing suburbs. Craigieburn is served by the Craigieburn railway line and the Hume Highway and is bordered by Mickleham, Donnybrook, and Kalkallo.
The Eagles compete in the Essendon District Football League and call D.S. Aitken Reserve home. Visit the club at craigieburnfc.com.au, follow them on Facebook, or find them on Instagram.
Footy Banner Information
Material: All Milestone Banners made by Footybanners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
