About Drysdale Falcons
Origins and Founding
The Drysdale Falcons are a community Australian rules football club based in the town of Drysdale on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula. The Drysdale football community has deep roots going back to 1879, when the local club played its first recorded game against Chilwell. Today, the Falcons carry on that proud tradition as part of one of regional Victoria's most active football communities.
Club History
Drysdale's football history is one of the richest on the Bellarine Peninsula. The local club played in early versions of the Bellarine Football League from 1895, reformed after World War I, and has competed in Geelong-area district competitions since the 1920s. The senior Drysdale club (the Hawks) claimed 14 premierships across various competitions, including back-to-back flags in 1976 and 1977 and another pair in 2009 and 2010. The Bellarine Football League, which Drysdale has been part of since 1971, is one of Victoria's most well-established regional competitions. The Falcons program builds on this legacy, giving local players a strong foundation in a community that has produced footballers for over 145 years.
Home Ground
The Falcons play their home games at the Drysdale Recreation Reserve, a well-maintained facility in the heart of Drysdale. The ground is a central hub for the local sporting community and hosts junior and senior football, along with netball and other sports. It sits close to the main strip of Drysdale and offers excellent viewing facilities for the local community.
Community and Programs
The Drysdale football community runs programs across multiple age groups, from Auskick and junior football through to senior and veterans competition. The Falcons are focused on providing a welcoming environment for families and new players across the Bellarine Peninsula, and contribute to a local football culture that is tightly woven into the community identity of the region.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
