Heidelberg West Hawks Banners - Northern Suburbs Football Milestones Worth Marking
From a Hawks player's 100th game to a big final push for the Heidelberg West community, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that honour every milestone in style. Order yours today and celebrate the way Heidelberg West deserves.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Aaron Walsh, #15, 150 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty paper that holds up through a bitter Melbourne winter at the footy ground.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Hawks players reach the same milestone on the same day, our Two Player Banner puts them both in the spotlight together. Provide both names and guernsey numbers and we'll produce a quality dual banner that gets the whole club talking.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
For 3 to 6 players celebrating together, our Team Banner covers every name in one standout display. Feature a top-line message like "Go Hawks!" and recognise every player being honoured. A fantastic option for a milestone round or end-of-season event at Heidelberg West.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. Hang a Hawks keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or games room and keep the memory of a great season alive long after the final siren.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text, our Grand Final Banners are built for the biggest occasions on the calendar. Contact us for design advice and let FootyBanners.com help Heidelberg West Football and Netball Club make an entrance on grand final day.
About Heidelberg West Hawks
Origins and Founding
The Heidelberg West Football Club was established in 1936. The club competed in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) in 1939 and 1940 before gaining admission into the Diamond Valley Football League (DVFL) in 1941. Shortly after joining the DVFL, the Hawks won the Division 1 seniors premiership in their debut 1941 season, a remarkable start to their league history. The Diamond Valley Football League was later renamed the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL), the competition in which the club continues to play today.
Club History
Heidelberg West experienced strong success throughout the 1970s and 1980s in Division 1 of the Diamond Valley competition, producing three Frank Smith Medallists (the league's best and fairest award) during that era: Kelvin Wood in 1984, Mark Perkins in 1986, and Brad Dunbar in 1988. The club experienced a resurgence in 2017 when new recruit Jarryd Coulson claimed the league best and fairest award as the Hawks climbed back up the NFNL ladder. The club currently competes in Division 3 of the NFNL. The clubrooms at Heidelberg Park were renovated in 2010 following a bequest from long-serving club stalwart Dave Fisher, and the rooms are now known as the "Dave Fisher" clubrooms in his honour.
Home Ground
The Hawks play at Heidelberg Park in Heidelberg West. The original facilities were built through the dedication of early club members, with Jack Wood and others constructing the front end of the clubrooms that became a feature of the local Heidelberg scenery. The Dave Fisher clubrooms have been the social hub of the club for decades, with the Wood family remaining involved in the club to this day.
Community and Programs
The Heidelberg West Football Club provides community football for the local Heidelberg West area and surrounding suburbs. As a Division 3 NFNL club, the Hawks offer an accessible entry point into community football for players across all skill levels. The club maintains strong connections with the broader Heidelberg West community through its volunteers, families, and long-term members who have supported the club across generations since its founding in 1936.
Heidelberg West
Heidelberg West is a suburb of Melbourne located 10 kilometres northeast of the CBD in the City of Banyule local government area. It recorded a population of 5,252 at the 2021 census. The suburb is characterised by medium to low-density residential housing and is bordered by Darebin Creek and its surrounding parklands, which serve as the main public open space for the area. The Mall, an open-style shopping centre constructed during the 1950s, is a local landmark.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
