About Ivanhoe Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Ivanhoe Football Club started as a social football team in 1910, when the district's community members came together to form their own club. The club joined the Heidelberg District Football Association (HDFA) in 1912 and wasted little time, winning its first senior premiership in 1913. The club claimed a second HDFA flag in 1921 and, when the HDFA disbanded that year, Ivanhoe moved to the Sub-District Football League before eventually crossing to the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) in 1934.

Club History
Throughout much of its history, Ivanhoe competed as a VAFA club with a strong reputation for developing junior talent and feeding players through to VFL level. The club's only A Grade premiership came in 1956, a vindication of its youth development philosophy after years of Under 19s success. After more than eight decades in the VAFA, the Ivanhoe Football Club made the landmark decision in 2023 to join the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL), with the move taking effect from the 2024 season. This transition connects the senior club more directly with the Ivanhoe Junior Football Club, which has competed in the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) since 1972 and is among the most successful junior clubs in that competition.

Home Ground
The Ivanhoe Football Club calls Chelsworth Park home. The park has been the base for Ivanhoe football for many decades, serving both the senior and junior programs. Chelsworth Park is situated in a green corridor near the Yarra River in Ivanhoe, providing excellent facilities for the club's growing membership base following the move to the NFNL.

Community and Programs
The Ivanhoe Football Club has long been recognised for its community commitment and player development. Through the closely aligned Ivanhoe Junior Football Club, the broader Ivanhoe football community provides a full pathway from Auskick through to senior competition. The club's move to the NFNL in 2024 reflects a forward-thinking approach from its committee and members, with the goal of building a stronger, more competitive senior program while maintaining the family-oriented culture that has defined the club across more than a century of football.

Ivanhoe
Ivanhoe is a suburb of Melbourne located 9 kilometres northeast of the CBD in the City of Banyule local government area. It recorded a population of 13,374 at the 2021 census. The suburb is known for its leafy residential streets, proximity to the Yarra River, and thriving village-style shopping areas. Chelsworth Park, the club's home ground, sits within this established community and has been a sporting focal point for Ivanhoe residents for generations.
