About Kadina Bloods
Origins and Founding
The Kadina Football Club, known as the Bloods, was founded in June 1878 at a meeting held at the Kadina Grammar School, largely at the initiative of miners working in the copper industry on the Yorke Peninsula. The club emerged in a region already well established in Australian rules football, with nearby Wallaroo and Moonta having played their first recorded match in 1874. Kadina initially competed under the name "Wallaroo Mines Young Turks" before adopting the Kadina identity. The Yorke Peninsula Football Association was formed in 1888 and Kadina has been a fixture in the Yorke Peninsula competition ever since.
Club History
The Kadina Bloods have been consistent performers at A Grade level throughout their history, winning senior premierships in 1984, 2002, 2010, 2011, 2017, and 2023. The club's 2023 flag was a recent triumph that underscored the Bloods' standing as one of the YPFL's powerhouses. Together with Wallaroo and Moonta, Kadina forms a fierce three-way rivalry that has defined football on the Yorke Peninsula for well over a century. The club also competes at B Grade, Colts, Women's, and junior levels throughout the YPFL competition year.
Home Ground
The Bloods play at Kadina Oval, located in the centre of Kadina. The ground is a focal point for community sport in Kadina and hosts YPFL home games across all grades. Kadina Oval has been the club's home venue throughout its history and is well equipped to host the regional rivalries that draw supporters from across the Copper Triangle.
Community and Programs
The Kadina Football and Netball Club operates as a combined sporting body, running senior and junior football alongside a competitive netball program. The club fields teams at multiple junior levels as well as Senior Colts, B Grade, A Grade, and a women's football side. The club is an inclusive and welcoming community organisation with a proud volunteer tradition and a strong supporter base drawn from Kadina and the surrounding agricultural district.
Kadina
Kadina is the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, located approximately 144 kilometres north-northwest of Adelaide. It is one of the three Copper Triangle towns - alongside Wallaroo and Moonta - celebrated as "Little Cornwall" in recognition of the large numbers of Cornish immigrants who worked in the copper mines during the 19th century. Kadina serves as the commercial and administrative hub of the Yorke Peninsula region, surrounded by a productive agricultural district that grows cereal crops and raises livestock.
The Kadina Bloods compete in the Yorke Peninsula Football League and call Kadina Oval home. For more information visit the official website, or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
