From a junior's first milestone to a grand final run in the inner east, FootyBanners.com creates custom banners that make every young Comet feel like a superstar. Order yours today and give your player a day they'll never forget.
Simple to Order
Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner styles. For a player banner, provide the name, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Lucas Brown, #11, 50 Games. All banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty weatherproof paper that holds up through a bitter Melbourne winter at Stradbroke Park without a problem.
Two Players, One Banner
When two Comets players share the same milestone on match day, our Two Player Banner lets the whole club celebrate them together. Provide both names and guernsey numbers and we'll create a quality dual banner for the occasion.
Team Banners for Group Celebrations
For 3 to 6 players all being recognised together, our Team Banner puts every name front and centre. Feature a top-line message like "Go Comets!" and honour every player in one great display. A perfect choice for a team milestone round or end-of-season presentation.
Wall Keepsake Banners
Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to last. Hang a Comets keepsake in the clubrooms, garage, or bedroom as a lasting reminder of a standout junior football season.
Grand Final Banners
Available in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes with fully customised top and bottom text, our Grand Final Banners set the perfect scene for the biggest match of the junior season. Contact us for design advice and let FootyBanners.com help Kew Comets Football Club make grand final day truly special.
About Kew Comets
Origins and Founding
The Kew Junior Football Club (KJFC), known widely as the Kew Comets, has roots that trace back to at least 1879, when the first club bearing the Kew Junior Football Club name was known to be in existence in Melbourne's inner east. The club was formally admitted to the Metropolitan Junior Football Association (MJFA) in 1899. Through the early decades the club won premierships in 1927, 1929, 1931-32, and 1934 across various junior competitions. A photo of the 1927 premiership team hangs in the Victoria Park clubrooms. The current incarnation of the club was formed in 1971 as part of the Hawthorn District Football Competition, which later amalgamated into the Yarra District Football League and then the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL).
Club History
The Kew Comets now compete in the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL), one of metropolitan Melbourne's most active junior football competitions. The club has fielded teams at multiple age groups throughout its long history and has built a strong reputation for player development and community participation in the Kew area. Consistent with AFL and YJFL guidelines, the Comets welcome girls to participate in mixed teams and have been proud of their female players' contributions in recent years. The club song - "We're the Mighty Fighting Browns" - reflects the gold and brown identity worn on Melbourne playing fields for well over a century.
Home Ground
The Kew Comets play their home games at Stradbroke Park, located at the corner of Harp and Burke Roads in Kew. Stradbroke Park is a well-established junior football ground in Melbourne's inner east and serves as the hub of the club's training and match activities. The Victoria Park clubrooms house the club's history memorabilia, including the celebrated 1927 premiership photograph.
Community and Programs
The KJFC's philosophy centres on providing all players with a safe, caring, and enjoyable environment where they can develop as footballers and as people. The club actively encourages parental involvement in training and game-day activities, and runs age groups from the youngest AusKick-eligible years through to Under 17s. The Comets are proud of their inclusive culture and their commitment to the YJFL's values of participation, encouragement, and achievement.
Kew
Kew is an affluent inner-eastern suburb of Melbourne, located approximately 5 kilometres east of the CBD in the City of Boroondara. With a population of 24,499 at the 2021 census, Kew is known for its heritage-listed Victorian terrace architecture, leafy tree-lined streets, and the scenic Yarra Boulevard running along the Yarra River. The suburb is home to prestigious schools, Studley Park Boathouse, and a strong sporting culture that stretches back well into the 19th century.
The Comets compete in the YJFL and call Stradbroke Park, Kew home. Visit the club website, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and updates.

-
-
Creating the Break-Through Slits
-
Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.
-
Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.
-
💡 Tips & Tricks
-
Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.
-
Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.
