About Knox Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
The Knox Football Club, nicknamed the Falcons, was founded in 1980 as the Knox Baptists Football Club, then known as the Hawks, competing in the Eastern Suburban Churches Football Association. The club's early structure required backing from a local church as a condition of ESCFA membership. In 1985 the club dropped "Baptist" from its name, reflecting a shift toward a broader community identity. In 1989 the club made a significant move, joining the Eastern District Football League (now the Eastern Football Netball League), which required a change of colours from brown and gold to red and black. The Knox Football Netball Club is based in Wantirna South in Melbourne's east and currently competes in Division 3 of the Eastern Football Netball League.
Club History
Knox has won four EFNL senior premierships since joining the competition. The club's first flag came in 1991, defeating Heathmont 13.11 (89) to 10.10 (70) in the Division 4 Grand Final. A Division 3 premiership followed in 2000, and then Knox won back-to-back Division 2 premierships in 2007 and 2017. The 2007 flag was particularly memorable, with Knox defeating South Croydon by six points in one of the tighter grand finals in recent EFNL history. The 2007 promotion also saw the Falcons compete in Division 1 for the first time. The club currently fields men's, women's, reserves, and Under 19s sides in the EFNL, as well as netball teams in the associated netball competition.

Home Ground
Knox plays its home games in the Wantirna South area, competing within the City of Knox. The club has access to the Knox Regional Football Centre located at 291 George Street, Wantirna South, which features a full-sized floodlit synthetic training pit maintained by Football Victoria. The suburban reserve environment is typical of eastern Melbourne's well-serviced community football precinct.

Community and Programs
The Knox Football Netball Club operates as a combined football and netball organisation, with a commitment to fielding both men's and women's teams at competitive levels. The club's core aim, as stated on its Facebook page, is nurturing a united club for both its women's and men's teams - reflecting the EFNL's broader push toward gender equity in community football. Junior development also plays a role through pathway programs, with the club contributing players to WAFL Colts and other talent pathways in the region.

Wantirna South
Wantirna South is a suburb in Melbourne's eastern corridor, 25 kilometres east of the Melbourne CBD, in the City of Knox local government area. With a population of 20,754 recorded at the 2021 census, it is one of the more populous suburbs in Knox's south-eastern precinct. The suburb is bordered by the City of Whitehorse and the City of Monash and is characterised by established residential streets, schools, and local sporting facilities.
