About Laurimar Power Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Laurimar Power Football Club was founded to serve the fast-growing residential communities of Laurimar and Doreen in Melbourne's outer north. The club was officially accepted into the Northern Football League in December 2010, initially operating as a junior club. After building a strong junior base, the Power expanded into senior football, entering the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL) senior competition in 2017, beginning their journey in Division 3 under inaugural senior coach Wayne Sharkie. The name "Power" reflects the club's ambition and energy as a new force in northern Melbourne football.


Club History
Since entering NFNL senior competition in 2017, the Laurimar Power have developed rapidly. The club competed in NFNL Division 3 and in 2023 claimed a Division 3 premiership, defeating Mernda 13.5 (83) to 11.11 (77) in the Grand Final - a landmark result for the young club. The Power also reached the Division 3 Grand Final in 2025, underscoring their consistent presence as a finals club in the NFNL. The club operates as the Laurimar Sporting Club, which incorporates both the Laurimar Power Football Club and the Power Basketball Club, reflecting the club's broader community sporting mission. The Wikipedia records of NFNL competition list Laurimar as a member since 2017, with 1 premiership to date.


Home Ground
The Laurimar Power play their home games at Laurimar Recreation Reserve in Doreen. The reserve sits within the Laurimar estate, a master-planned residential community that has grown rapidly since the mid-2000s. The facility provides playing surfaces and social facilities for both football and basketball as part of the broader Laurimar Sporting Club.


Community and Programs
The Laurimar Power fields senior men's teams in the NFNL and maintains a strong junior program that continues to feed into senior ranks. The club's origins as a junior-first organisation mean that community participation and youth development remain central values. The Laurimar Sporting Club Facebook page has over 3,700 followers, and the senior football club's Instagram account has more than 1,400 followers, reflecting strong community engagement in what is one of Melbourne's fastest-growing growth corridors.


Laurimar and Doreen, City of Whittlesea
Laurimar is a suburb within the broader Doreen community in Melbourne's outer north, located within the City of Whittlesea. Doreen recorded a population of 27,122 at the 2021 census and spans the City of Whittlesea and Shire of Nillumbik local government areas. The Doreen-Laurimar corridor is part of Melbourne's rapidly expanding northern growth belt, characterised by modern housing estates, new schools and developing community facilities. The City of Whittlesea as a whole has been one of Victoria's fastest-growing councils, making clubs like the Power essential anchors for new communities.
