About Leeton Raiders
Origins and Founding
The Leeton Raiders Junior Rugby League Football Club (JRLFC) is a junior rugby league club based in Leeton, New South Wales, competing in the Group 20 Junior Rugby League (JRL) competition. The club provides structured pathways for young players across the Riverina region, fielding teams from Under-6s through to Under-14s under the NSW Rugby League framework. The Raiders are connected to the broader Leeton rugby league community, which has deep roots in the Riverina since the senior Leeton Greens club was founded in the 1920s.

Club History
The Leeton Raiders JRLFC compete within the Group 20 JRL competition, which is administered by NSW Rugby League across the Griffith and Riverina districts. The Raiders field multiple age group teams each season, including League Tag (non-tackle) grades for younger players and tackle competitions for older age groups. In 2025, the Raiders' Under-14s side won the Group 20 Junior Rugby League championship - a notable achievement for the club and a sign of the strength of junior rugby league development in Leeton. The Raiders are supported by the Leeton Galloping Greens, the senior Group 20 club, which backs junior development in the town.

Home Ground
The Leeton Raiders play their home games at Leeton No. 1 Oval, which also serves as the home of the senior Leeton Galloping Greens and is the central sporting ground for rugby league in Leeton. No. 1 Oval has hosted Group 20 competition matches for decades and is one of the key sporting venues in the Leeton Shire. The ground sits within easy reach of Leeton's town centre and is well patronised by the local community on match days throughout the winter season.

Community and Programs
The Leeton Raiders JRLFC runs programs for boys and girls from the earliest development ages, with League Tag providing a non-tackle entry point for young players before they transition to tackle rugby league. The club operates under the banner of Group 20 JRL, which provides players across the Riverina with the opportunity to play rugby league at a structured competition level. Leeton
Leeton is a town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, established on 2 April 1913 as part of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. According to the Leeton Wikipedia article, the town recorded a population of 7,437 at the 2021 census. Located 579 kilometres from Sydney and 129 kilometres from Wagga Wagga, Leeton is well known as a centre of rice and citrus farming in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. The town also has strong ties to Australian film history as the birthplace of the cinema industry in Australia, with one of the oldest operating cinemas in the country, the Roxy Theatre, built in 1930.
