About Lindenow South Swampies Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Lindenow South Football Netball Club, known as the Swampies, was founded in 1902 in the small East Gippsland community of Lindenow South, near Bairnsdale. One of the oldest football clubs in the Gippsland region, the Swampies have built a proud history over more than 120 years of community football, drawing players and supporters from the farming families of the Mitchell River flats.

Club History
After competing in the Bairnsdale District Football League in the club's early decades, Lindenow South joined the East Gippsland Football League (EGFL) in 1974 and remained there until 1985, winning the EGFL Division 2 premiership in 1985. When the EGFL's second division broke away to form the Riviera Football League in 1986, Lindenow South was a founding member and went on to win four Riviera FL premierships: 1986, 1997, 1998 and 1999. Following the Riviera FL's disbandment after the 2003 season, the club moved to the Omeo District Football League in 2004. The club now competes in the Gippsland Football and Netball League, fielding both football and netball sides and continuing to build junior programs for the next generation of Swampies.

Home Ground
The Swampies play their home matches at Lindenow South Recreation Reserve in Lindenow South. The ground has been the club's home throughout its history and is a gathering place for the tight-knit Lindenow South community on match days.

Community and Programs
Lindenow South Football Netball Club fields both senior and junior teams across football and netball. The club maintains a welcoming environment for new players and families from the wider Bairnsdale and East Gippsland region, with regular training nights and social events throughout the season.

Lindenow South
Lindenow South is a small rural locality in East Gippsland, Victoria, situated approximately 10 kilometres west of Bairnsdale and about 280 kilometres east of Melbourne. The community sits in the fertile Mitchell River valley, known for its pastoral farming and horticulture. The area is part of the East Gippsland Shire and is characterised by its wide floodplains, stands of river gums, and the iconic Mitchell River.
