About Lysterfield Wolves Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Lysterfield Wolves Junior Football Club was established in 2008, growing out of a partnership between the Knox Junior Football Club and the Lysterfield Auskick program. In 2007, Knox JFC was facing a ground shortage as one of their ovals was being redeveloped, and Knox President Brett Kenny contacted Lysterfield Auskick co-ordinator Brad McNay to arrange matches at Lakesfield Reserve. The following year, in 2008, the Lysterfield junior competition formally separated from Knox to become an independent club, with Murray Grimston serving as the founding president. A formation meeting on 27 April 2010 established the club's full independent structure and volunteer base.

In those earliest years the club started with just a handful of teams, but by 2010 had won its first trophy - the Under 10 Lightning Premiership. The club is affiliated with the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) and draws players from Lysterfield and surrounding suburbs including Rowville, Scoresby, and Knox.

Club History

From its origins as a junior breakaway from Knox JFC, the Lysterfield Wolves have grown into one of the more substantial junior clubs in Melbourne's south-east. By 2025, the club fielded 22 junior boys' teams across nine age groups from Under 8s to Under 17s, and five girls' teams across Under 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s. The club has produced players who have progressed to EFNL Interleague representative squads and through to senior football in the South East Football Netball League (SEFNL) and EFNL. In 2025, the club launched its inaugural Senior Women's team in partnership with a local senior club, marking a significant expansion of its football program beyond junior ranks.

Home Ground

The Wolves are based at Lakesfield Reserve in Lysterfield, a quiet outer-eastern suburb of Melbourne. The reserve provides the primary home ground for the club's 27 teams and serves as the gathering point for the club's large member community. The facility's natural bushland setting reflects the character of the Lysterfield area, adjacent to the popular Lysterfield Lake Park which draws thousands of visitors to the area each year.

Community and Programs

The Wolves are a family-oriented club with a strong culture of fairness, equality, inclusion, and friendship. The club welcomes boys and girls from Under 8s through to Under 18s, providing competitive football pathways at every age level. The club's girls' program has expanded steadily since its introduction, now spanning five full age groups. An active Auskick program introduces the youngest players to Australian rules football at Lakesfield Reserve each season, reinforcing the club's connection to the broader Lysterfield community.

Lysterfield

Lysterfield is a residential outer-eastern suburb of Melbourne, located approximately 35 kilometres south-east of the CBD within the City of Knox. The area is best known for the Lysterfield Lake Park, a 1,250-hectare recreational reserve featuring mountain biking trails, bushwalking, horse riding, and the lake itself. Lysterfield sits at the boundary of established suburban Melbourne and the outer fringe of the Dandenong Ranges foothills, providing a semi-rural lifestyle within commuting distance of the city. The area's quiet family character has supported steady population growth in recent decades.

The Wolves compete in the EFNL and play at Lakesfield Reserve, Lysterfield VIC. For more information visit the Lysterfield Wolves website, or follow the club on Facebook and on Instagram.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
