About Melton Football Netball Club
Origins and Founding
The Melton Football Netball Club, known as the Bloods, was founded in 1879 and stands among the oldest football clubs in Victoria's western growth corridor. The club initially competed in the Bacchus Marsh District Football Association and was highly successful in that competition, claiming ten premierships between 1913 and 1972. After the Bacchus Marsh competition changed structure in the late 1920s, Melton spent time in various regional associations before moving to the Riddell District Football League in 1973, where it won the RDFL senior flag in its very first season. In 1997 the club joined the Ballarat Football League (BFL) alongside Sunbury, Darley, and Melton South.
Club History
Melton FNC has accumulated 20 senior premierships across its long history. In the BFL the Bloods have won five senior flags - in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2022, and 2024 - establishing themselves as one of the competition's powerhouse clubs. The 2022 and 2024 back-to-back flag sequences confirmed the Bloods' status as a leading club in one of Victoria's most competitive regional football leagues. Prior to the BFL era the club had also won Riddell District Football League titles in 1973, 1981, 1983, 1984, and 1986, making Melton one of the most decorated clubs in Melbourne's western and outer-western suburbs corridor. The combined football and netball structure has strengthened the club's family and community appeal.
Home Ground
The Bloods play their home games at MacPherson Park in Melton, which has served as the club's base through its most successful BFL era. The facility accommodates both football and netball programs, reflecting the club's combined structure. MacPherson Park is well regarded as a quality BFL venue in the growing Melton area, and the ground has hosted numerous finals matches during the club's recent flag campaigns in 2022 and 2024.
Community and Programs
Melton FNC runs a full netball program alongside its football operations, making it a true community hub for the rapidly expanding City of Melton. The club draws players from across the Melton district and surrounding growth suburbs, reflecting the broad demographic catchment of one of Australia's fastest-growing regional cities. With 145 years of history behind them, the Bloods have become a symbol of football continuity in an area that has experienced enormous transformation since the 1990s.
Melton
Melton is a major regional city in Melbourne's west, located approximately 36 kilometres from the CBD. The City of Melton is one of Australia's fastest-growing local government areas, with the urban area recording a population of approximately 180,000 residents across the municipality at the 2021 Census. The area has transformed from a small country town in the 1980s into a major outer-western urban centre, with significant residential, commercial, and infrastructure development continuing into the 2020s.
The Bloods compete in the Ballarat Football League and call MacPherson Park, Melton, home. Follow the club on Facebook, or connect on Instagram at @meltonbloods.
Footy Banner Information
Material: All Milestone Banners made by Footybanners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet. They are fully recyclable.
How to Use: We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it. If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through. There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.
On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon! This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.
Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.Pro Tip: Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!
Return and Refund Policy
As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.
Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
